I think with this list, losing ObSec takes a little punch out of it. If you switch to Leviathan, you might as well drop the other Rippers for Mukes then, freeing up even more points. So maybe switch the Skytyrant out for an Allied Detachment? You can grab another Mawloc that way, or even a Malanthrope/Venomthrope for a little early game cover until the hammer drops. You may also want to grab a Comms Relay somewhere as well, in case you want to DS the Flyrants or something if you see a gross match-up, and an Aegis can help with that Turn 1 anti-wipe security.

Yeah I think you're right about keeping obsec- so I can keep it as a standard CaD and an Allied detachment, and still get all the goodies I want. I don't think I like the idea of Mucs as troops, since not only are they not obsec, but they can't hold objectives at all - they're literally a throw away unit.
By staying CaD + Allies, I can get:
Flyrant, dakka, electro, warlord Flyrant, dakka, electro Flyrant, dakka, electro
Lictor Lictor Lictor
DS rippers DS rippers rippers
Dima, tyrannocyte Crone
Mawloc Mawloc Mawloc
Total: 1849.
I'll be testing this list out this weekend, to see if the comms relay is going to be a game breaker. If it is, then I might have to drop the crone or a mawloc to get it, but we shall see.
Also, to Joels point, there are no kill point missions as far as I can tell for Adepticon. The sample missions are all centered around maelstrom cards, so I'm building the list with that in mind. Once we see the official pack, then I might have to make adjustments...but for straight up maelstrom, this list should do well.

Jeff I saw a list from the UK that is going to the Cally GT that was CaD + Allies + formation:
3 Flyrants 3 mucolids 3 Knights (adamantium lance)
What a huge dick that guy must have, I totally don't doubt his manhood or ability to maintain an erection or procreate.

Yeah, saw that too, dude still lost to IH Bikers though.
Some people just don't seem to want to have fun with this game anymore.

Yeah its getting stupid with all the formations etc. I really feel like keeping the formations faction-specific would have been cool; it just boggles the mind that there are literally thousands of army combinations just in terms of the detachment organization, let alone the actual models you take in each detachment.
If you cold only do the adamantium lance as part of an IK army, that would make sense. Nids with knights? wtf guy, get out of here.

I feel bad for Tournament organizers these days though. How do you even attempt to begin to try and balance this stuff out? I dig the freedom of course, but there's so little incentive to not build giant taint lists.

If that dude modeled three knights into some crazy bio-monstrosities, I mean why not. Let the nerd forge his narrative. But I'm gonna assume he just three-colors-and-go'd those knights. And speaking to Jeff's point, there's no incentive to not bring strong, shitty lists to a tournament. You ain't there to make friends. You're there to win, which will no doubt facilitate in wrangling up some GT strange.

Russel he literally 3-colored Imperial Knights, so you are right on the money my man. And his nids are literally "Spray white, paint carapace black, make eyes and teeth reddish kinda" so...pro paint.

In those videos, he also seems to consistently lose to the same IH Bike List no matter what kind of power net-building he does.
Not really sure why some people play this game. Dudes not even a candidate for the GT Strange.
Maybe that should be on our t-shirts.

This is a big reason that I avoid tournaments - I can fully appreciate the competitive side of the game, and I definitely do prefer to win, but I also try to take a step back and remember that it's a game, and we're playing with toy soldiers, and that we're both (or all) there to have fun.
I'm rather turned off by the amount of "Just take anything!!" that GW is pushing. Literally. Anything. Want to ally in a Farseer with your Hormagaunts and Necron Gunships? Do it. Because Narrative!!
I feel rather confident in saying that the 40k we all know and love isn't the most balanced game out there. Adding in stuff like this just throws the whole idea out the window... it's getting close to impossible to have a system of checks and balances when you can take all the checks, and none of the balances.
Shrug. It's great as a friendly game, when two (questionably) grown people decide to have a good time. I would just rather see some more controls put in.
On the note, so I can be specific, I'd like to see how an "event" along the lines of "1 CAD, 1 Ally (no come-the-apoc), 1 Formation allowed, 0 Superheavies/Bio-titans, Highlander rules for non-troops". MAYBE allow Nids to ally with themselves in this format, or allow a 2nd formation, or something to counter the fact that they're the only ally-less army. I think it could be a fun little run, and would (hopefully) see a slight push to more fluffy armies, without completely destroying a competitive spirit.
On the note of Mukes as troops - I think they're amazing in some ways. They basically allow you to go unbound in a bound-only format. Sure they can't score, but everything else can, which with bugs means tons of sort-of-durable MC's (because that's what you're taking). Also, with Leviathan, since you don't have ObSec anyway, it's a moot point. Especially with Leviathan, sure it's a "throw away" unit, but you have so many troop slots that you can still fit in plenty of "usable" troops if you want. Mainly I've always thought taking Spore Mines in your army would be a fun thing to do, but it eats up FA slots that are, quite simply, just better taken up by Flyers, Gargoyles... even Shrikes have some love these days, despite the 5+ save. You need to be able to field probably at least 2-3 broods of them to have any effect, and you can't do that without eating your entire FA section... until the new Spore Field, that is, which is part of why I love it so much.
