Per unit being the key. In theory you could chain through your entire army (incredibly unlikely, sure, but technically possible).

But played well this army is going to be tons of fun. Imagine a unit of reavers with heat lances and caltrops charging into a unit. They kill that unit, then soul burst themselves to shoot at a transport. They pop the transport, so another unit gets to soulburst into combat with the contents of that transport. They kill that unit, so another unit soulburst shoots at another transport...etc. It will very likely never work out that way but its absolutely a possibility. You can't do an infinite chain though; it says you only get one soulburst action per unit per turn. Right, I wasn't saying you keep chaining the same unit, note I said "another unit" each action. You'd have to set it up right, but Dark Eldar players specifically are used to having to set up right - so it should be second nature to them to get the right units in position. And like Joel said, though it sucks and leaves a bad taste in your mouth, having access to CW:E troops while using DE elites and fast attack is going to make this army very mobile, but lean. Incubi, reavers, scourges, and scatter bikes with wraithknight and triumverate support are going to be light in bodies, but dish out lots of pain, and with clever meneuvering will be able to chain each other to greater heights. I wonder if bringing 2 webway portals and ditching the raiders for your incubi etc. would be the way to go - Madison, Joel, what do you think? Dropping a unit of 10 incubi with an archon and the visarch next to a unit on turn 2 could be killer, depending on placement and the ability of your army to present enough targets to keep the incubi star alive for a turn of shooting. Which brings up another point - soul burst actions already ignore the proper checklist for when a unit can shoot/run/assault. And, for example, if you move and run in your turn - you still get to shoot with souldbound even if you normally couldn't. If you charge in your turn but fail, you can still charge with soulbound again when you normally couldn't. SO - if you arrive from reserve....can you still soulbound charge?

Interesting... Maybe. I'd have to read the time closely before weighing in. That said, expecting a unit of de to survive a turn of shooting is, I think, usually wishful thinking. If those incubi need to die they will be dead. Or you already won. I'd probably stick to raiders for the bonus move when the transport goes boom. Probably. Plus you're paying a huge tax for that wwp.

Raider + aethersails means on turn 1 you just throw it RIGHT in front of your opponent, basically daring them to blow it up. Then they emergency disembark, are fearless as long as the triumverate is on the board so can't be pinned from the inevitable explosion, and make a charge that is more or less guaranteed - on your OPPONENTS turn.
That or you suicide your raiders into ruins/forests hoping they explode while going flat out, and launch the units inside them into the enemy on your first turn.

Official FAQ: www.warhammer-community.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/03/Gathering_Storm_II_v1.0.pdfKey points: Eldar and dark eldar cannot use each other's transports still - no Raiders full of wraithguard Transports count for Soul burst, and the unit inside can soul burst from their vehicle being wrecked but NOT exploded You can charge in using soul burst on the next player turn when a rule would normally prevent you from doing so (deep strike, reserves, regrouping, firing rapid fire or heavy weapons, using the yncarne's teleport) The combat issue only got more confusing though, I'm not sure how they read that and said "well that's crystal clear", with regard to initiative steps. The faq makes it seem like there is some game-wide initiative step in play, and there just isn't. Also you measure for 7" soulburst range at the beginning of each phase before models are targeted or removed which is a huge boon

It looks like you measure the 7" for soulburst range not at the beginning of each phase but at the beginning of each attack, not at the beginning of each phase, so that if you shoot away half a unit with some Wraithguard and then shoot away the other half with Reapers, you'd only measure from where the unit was when the Reapers shot. Still a lot better than it just being the last model killed.

Sorry to be a stick in the mud but I'm just not buying it. They did this for Fantasy and the lists were valid for all of four months leading up to AoS.

Ah who cares, I get to mix and match my models now. Man I'm wondering if they are going to have a different chapter tactic or the same one? Man! Just been doing flips this whole day. When is this book coming out again?
