Which is several times more expensive than your average army men, and there isn't even an equivalent to crouching bazooka guy.
Well, at least Total War: Warhammer is looking to be pretty sweet. Shame about the new direction though (and very possibly death of the Warhammer minis range). I get the feeling it will come in with great fanfare then disappear into the nether in short order as the veterans desert and new kids either get bored or don't come in great enough numbers to begin with given the cost and lack of advertisement.
I wonder if we'll ever get to see those scrapped designs for minis the guy on faeit mentioned. May not ever get used in a board game, but it'd still be nice to see/make 1 or 2 of with a 3d printer.

Yea it isn't looking good. Not good at all. I plan on still playing 8th and trying to find a way to complete out my army plans.

Well the rules are out, so lets get some games of this under our belt and make a decision if we want to keep playing it. Some guys on Faeit said it doesn't feel so bad, its quicker than WHFB until you get to combat, and then it just drags on and on unless you can throw a character or monster in to finish off the opponent.

I like the way you think, Nick. Is it weird that I still want the Sigmarines, they'd make some fucking sick non-Flesh Tearers.

A friend of mine who owns a store in Buffalo already played it yesterday.
Nick: "Jay, out of context of WFB, did you enjoy it? That's the important thing. Did it bring something to the table that made you feel like, "This is cool. I like x and y about this.""
Jay: "It did. My only concern is in the army building. The fact that I can't make lists late at night and dream a little takes away from the immersion. That being said the game plays very well and it is enjoyable."
In that same thread, he talked another dude "off the cliff" who insisted he felt like this release made him feel like he "threw away his childhood". Very dramatic. I was one of the people that got both of these dudes into the hobby when they were 12. I picture the dramatic guy furiously flailing at his keyboard with pudgy fingers and tears in his eyes. Poor guy.
-------------------
I remember very well the shift from 2nd to 3rd Edition 40K - the way they solidified the mechanics, but stripped away all of the armies and rebuilt over time. This reboot seems even kinder and gentler than that by how they are creating war scrolls for all of the models (something that didn't quite happen in 40K). Just like 2nd to 3rd, this is not going to be a finely tuned system. This is going to be a new framework to build upon. It's going to be messy at times but exciting.
As for this character on Faeit, I don't know if they are 100% legit. I didn't read what you're referencing but it sounds heavily editorialized. Change is hard. I'm sure there was concern and trepidation in the studio. Dismantling and rebuilding something people have loved for 30 years comes with a heavy weight. But if you're a designer and the bean counters tell you to shake things up, you don't cry about it and point fingers at the bean counters. You look at what they want you to accomplish and you make the best fucking thing you can that meets the specs.
And if it fails they can always rewind to whatever point in WFB history that they want. That's the glory of calling Age of Sigmar "AGE OF SIGMAR". They may have no plans to revisit WFB, but they can always go back if they want and think of a way to make it work.
But I remember the lawless and wild times that were early 3rd Edition 40K, and they were actually pretty awesome. So dry those tears, take your fingers off the "List" button on Ebay, and see where this takes us.

Or sell everything you own from GW to invest heavily in Broken Contract.

EW, a blood angel. GROSS
Yeah they look to be 40mm - saw a couple of comparison shots between these guys and a normal SM tactical on a 32mm base, the models themselves are only slightly bigger (about the size of a "truescale marine" conversion), but the base looked bigger. They could probably fit on a 32mm though.
