well, 10 models is probably like 30 minutes. 2-3 hours if you use the 100 or so models per side that they recommend in the upcoming White Dwarf

Granted, its also not $4 this week, but still. I think I read on twitter its expected to be $14, so a $10 mini. I'm into it.

Yeah how can they possibly balance it if that's the case?

Yeah how can they possibly balance it if that's the case? Because they do such a good job otherwise?

Maybe it is based off of a total number of Wounds per side...? I have no idea, but I want to play this game...just give me some way to "balance" this biatch

PS I love how the war scroll takes on the brunt of the special rules - some of this stuff is far from "simple" like the 4 pages of rules themselves are; things like the drake having a "blast" attack, and the nuances in the special rules for each unit will add the depth that we used to get from a 485 page book.

Full rules are leaked early: www.pdf-archive.com/2015/06/30/scan0004/scan0004.pdfI'm...torn. Really torn. The only balancing factor is the Sudden Death conditions which, granted, are basically an easy button. I guess this is GW's way of trying to attract younger players with larger, more stylized miniatures vs rich background and more intricate rules, and by eliminating any type of tournament play whatsoever by completely placing the issue of balance squarely on the players themselves. Guy on Faeit claims to work for GW, basically says that the entire design team thinks this is the wrong way to go, that they're going to lose too many customers and not gain the equivalent back with the new system. Said that GW is really banking on a solid quarter from AoS, and if it doesn't sell well then they'll do more 40k and sort of side step it for the time being. Said they didn't actually try to balance it, because it would have taken too many resources and too much time - so they focused on miniature design instead, and hope to attract enough players by pure aesthetic that the game will catch on and more time can be spent on fleshing out rules and balance later. I'm very very torn about this. As a stand alone system, might be great - but after we see the downloads for everything on Saturday, I might have to seriously consider scrapping my 8th edition stuff. We never play it as is, I'm not going to fool myself into thinking that we'll start once a new system is released.
