I'd love to get around to a campaign again, but I think the Orozon one had some small problems that became bigger over time. Jeff did a fantastic job with the big story, the maps, and the setting. The problem was that as players we had no direction, and often little or no goals. If we do another campaign I really suggest we have some clear goals in place for each faction so that everyone knows what they are working towards. I like the idea of a more narrative campaign like Orozon, where winning wasn't necessarily the only goal, but everyone needs to be invested in forwarding their factions efforts. I had thought quite abit about this matter, and thought why don't we actually form alliances that work together to forward their narrative goal. Divide it as Tau, Chaos/daemons, Orks, Necrons, Nids, Eldar/DE/Harlies, and the Imperium. Each faction would discuss what they want/need to accomplish. That way whenever someone joins the campaign they know right away "I'm part of the Imperium, our goals are "x" and we control these planets/places.

Fuck yea campaign, I would love to help run/participate in one of those. The new horus heresy book has a really solid system for it.
Buffalo for wings and beef? When is this?

Also, in the spirit of the campaign discussion... Remember, a campaign and a league can be combined, but are different entities. If you run a campaign with a league structure, it can just end up being a series of weekly competitive games and you end up with the same issues. Instead of trying to come up with something completely inclusive, you're better off doing something short run that covers those who are actually available and can commit 3 or 4 weeks of gaming in to complete a story. This was from my latest Broken Contract Blog post, but it can equally be applied to 40K. Keep it simple. Draft up 3-5 scenarios based on the armies that will definitely be participating and knock out a short but complete narrative so you can play out something that feels like a complete story.

Gah the thing is buffalo is the weekend of my 30th. No shot on that.
We could do a purely narrative campaign or do a map based with Comp. Those have more record keeping and tend to go a little longer. I have run a few of these things.

I'd be more than willing to resurrect Orozon, fast forward a few hundo years and see what's up. I think a combo Planetary Empires/Istvaan Campaign thing would work (resources and the like), but def gotta streamline stuff, just pare shit down, make it less freeform as well. Ya'll need wranglin'.
I'd be happy to do work for this, but it would be cool to have some dedicated others to assist, as I got bogged down last time. Should we start some ideas here of what people want to do or open up a new thread?

Jeff, now that the move is over (AS SOON AS I FIND MY GOD DAM MONITOR CABLE THIS 10 YEAR OLD PIECE OF SHIT IS TERRIBLE) I've got some free time and I'd be more than happy to help do some of the mundane side of a campaign. I remember back at GF there was the campaign board, maybe we could set up something like that but on a slightly larger scale?

Considering I sold my sisters you can just massacre them in the storyline, martyrs and what-not. The Gorekin will definitely make a warp-fueled appearance in Orozon.

Aw, I'm sad to hear about the loss of the Sisters. You were killing it with narrative last time Will.
Honestly, the biggest difficulty as a mod is recording keeping. And not that it's difficult to keep everything straight, it's difficult to get you tossers to provide me the information I need. Any amount of report submitting seems to be beyond too many of you, especially when asking for specifics. I can't seem to detail things enough, or half you guys are illiterate, or you just can't be bothered. So, COMMUNITY, what is the ideal way for you to record wins, losses, narrative exploits, what have you SO THAT THE CAMPAIGN DOES NOT PREMATURELY DIE. I can have a billion assistants but they won't be able to do jack shit if the players can't give me what I need. You can mash buttons on your Game Cube controller all you want, if that shit isn't plugged in, your dudeman ain't doing anything on the screen.
So, should you all just be better plastic pushers and e-mail senders? Or is there a better way to get a mod his candy?

Yeah, sorry for the salt, but it's not exactly untrue...
I know I can get pretty verbose sometimes and it can be exhausting, especially when we just wanna toss cubes for fun, but I like thinking and designing and planning and try really hard to do a good job. Maybe I just get too excited. I'm more than happy to not be the control freak and be out of it completely as well, if I just ruined it all with my flamehammer.

Also, if you weren't part of the problem, you know you weren't, so disregard my ire.
