Mike what do you think of giving ravagers/raiders the option to have splinter cannons instead of dark lances/disintegrator cannons? Would be kinda fun to have a ravager with 18 poison shots zooming around blasting bitches to pieces...
Also apparently the wrack kit comes with bitz to convert drivers/gunners of raiders, venoms, ravagers to wracks. So either just an aesthetic bit to give your coven armies some more thematic vehicles, OR maybe, just maybe...wrack drivers give special rules like to the transports. WHO KNOWS

Kinda weak, that's like claiming the wych box has bits to create wych riders/drivers...ie, use a different torso and head. Voila!

Rumor that we will get a version of battle focus, as well as the Ancient Doom eldar rules. Makes sense, we fear slaanesh, and since we've been training just as long as craftworld eldar why shouldn't we have the discipline to shoot/run or run/shoot? Stupid goody two shoes.
Simple, one-word answer. "Discipline". Merps. True, though. I'd be surprised to see DE get that particular toy. I like the thoughts on the Cannon, I think it fits in well with the Salvo weapon-type, and it wouldn't be a massive hindrance to it. There are two ways you see SC's in use - on a boat with splinter racks (and then you really want to be within 12" to annihilate the enemy anyway) or on Scourges. And Scourges could easily get Relentless, which would finally make Lances a viable choice with them to boot. Or GW could just muff it all up. Womp. I expect to see Monofilament, per Eldar rules, come in. Mainly with the Shredder. I also think the Shredder should go up in cost to reflect this... but I also think Darklight should go down by about 5 points (more in line with Melta, rather than a Lascannon). If Raiders get more expensive *again*, with no boon, I will be upset. At least in 6th they eventually got Jink built in... granted, GW's thinking is probably "Oh, Jink is a 4+ now instead of a 5+, so it should cost more!" instead of "Oh, it's a better save for the trade-off of snap-firing, so it's about on par". Venoms I could almost see. I mean, for the cost, it's a *lot* of shots. BUT. The caveat here is that DE have, outside of one-use wargear, ONE model that can put out a Large Blast, (edit, two), and those are one-use missiles on our flyers. High rate of fire (or allies) are our only way to deal effectively with hordes. Shrug. I'd love to see some more variation in weapon options. We nearly doubled our armory (or maybe more) with this codex, but so much of it is either worthless (CC special weapons) or only available to one-two units (heat lance, haywire blasters) that it still means the army is "poison and lances". I mean, I love my poison and lances... but I would stab a baby for the Dissie to A) be a multi-shot S6 weapon (ish) and B) allow it to be mounted on more than just Ravagers. It also confounds the Lance profile a bit. It's an awkward weapon to price, as it's super-great vs heavy armor, but mediocre vs light armor (ie, it's rules have no effect). But, DE have so few other options for dealing with armor that Lances are simply the default (rather than "Yes, I'm willing to pay the premium for the small amount of GREAT anti-heavy armor, but I will take this S6-7 en mass to deal with the majority of low-med armor I see"). In a phrase, I think that either Lance weaponry needs to come down a tad (like I said, just 5 points), or it can stay where it is but we need some other, less niche options to round out our capabilities and make paying that premium an *option*, not a mandate. I basically agree with most of what Nick is saying, though. I can see a few tweaks to update weapon types/rules... I would mess myself to see Mandrakes finally viable (have always loved the concept... even if they just started with a Pain Token they'd probably be workable, if not great)... mostly I'm hoping they don't bunk it up. I'd like to maintain at least one army that I can call competitive and not hate half of the units in the book. EDIT!!!! PS - I kind of think that I would love to see Wyches able to use their Dodge save vs Overwatch, in addition to CC attacks. It still leaves Overwatch to be something to consider, but gives them a chance of getting in, compared to Kabalites just sitting 36" away in Venoms and blasting the world to pieces. Also, kind of wonder if I will ever actually try using a Power Spear on Wyches, because SPEAR OF POWER is pretty boss/eldar-like. I mean, why wouldn't I use the most specialized of power weapons? My ears are pointy, son. All that said, I had mucho luck with a wych-heavy build for my few (so far) campaign games. But, that was for the campaign... yeps.

I kinda just hope they'll give us more options on the vehicles, like you said - or even in the squads themselves. Why should warriors and trueborn only have access to blasters/shredders or SC/dark lances? Why not give them access to haywire blasters and heat lances? And why not give ravagers/raiders/venoms access to those as well?
Could you imagine - a venom with a TL heat lance/blaster/haywire blaster, filled with blasterborn? Would be amazingly fun, give it a more central purpose (anti-tank riding in anti-infantry and anti-infantry riding in anti-tank is weird sometimes). Then I would be cool with a points increase. But really only then.
Or imagine 3 trueborn popping out of a webway portal with 2 heat lances. Or 2 haywire blasters, in your opponents backfield or near mid field. Would be amazing, and would be something your opponent HAS to deal with. Would make taking a webway portal useful again, if for no other reason than to punk your opponent and give them something that they absolutely have to deal with.

New info from the WD: wracks are 5 for $36 US (awesome! looks like we're keeping our status as "cheapest army to purchase"), and Haemonculus is $26, which puts him at roughly the same cost as the new Woodelf clampacks, so I can deal with that. Might try to snag some of the finecast ones off ebay for cheaper, since they're still amazing sculpts and finecast has never been an issue with me.

I think these splinter cannon ravagers would have to come in at like a cool clean 75 points. Especially with poison weapons available everywhere else for cheap in the old codex.
Personally, what would really make this uncompetitive dreck of a codex viable would be some way to protect our skimmers from exploding. Like a shield of some sort. That we could shoot if we get bored of protecting ourselves.

The new "your boat asplode" table really does help wyches. The chances of half the squad evaporating has really downsized. Missiles will crack us open easily enough, but it's not the double-whammy that it used to be so much of the time. And Night Shields are great vs Melta, because having a 3" range makes me laugh at you.
Part of me wonders if we'll keep poison. I don't expect it to go away, per se... but to me, it's still "new". I played DE with the old book for... I don't know... probably twice as long as this one has even been out. Because, you know, going through three editions without an update is apparently the cool thing to do.
When jink was an all-the-time thing, I thought Skilled Rider on our boats would have been a great add-on... but these days... shrug. Granted, it would allow for some serious cover-gaining shenanigans. Sigh. It may be time to dust off the skull-caps (that's a cap made out of a skull, mind you) and break out the DE again. I've been so caught up in trying to make Nids not garbage that I've barely touched DE for months. My soul trap is thirsty.
Anyway. More useful vehicle upgrades would be cool. I don't want a ton of defensive things... really what we have is pretty sweet... but a lot of the options we have are pretty trash and never used. Mainly because we expect our boats to die too soon to make them useful.
The one thing I'd give my left nut for? The return of the Horrorfex. I would just about trade back to the old book just for this piece of kit. Especially now that half of all armies aren't fearless.... mmmmmm it makes me drool...
