Oh yeah, im not complaining. Im just making an observation. Hordes are great now. Tyranid monsters are generally more effective against medium/light vehiclss and other monsters. They tend to struggle in the horde meta. Thats why im now including cultists in my lists (although s3 guns are still shit).

You be surprised how tons of shoots can still do damage, regardless of str.

I still think that 120 point 30 man termagant squads are solid for horde control - 30 S4 shots is not the best, but it certainly isn't the worst; but its just more models to paint lol which is annoying

Yeah oh im not saying that tyranids dont have anti infantry. We are one of the main horde armies, and our hordes can kill plenty infantry. But thats just not what i got into tyranids for, personally. Im playing this faction for the monsters. I have 40 gants and i dont plan on getting more. On the other hand, i love genestealers, so i could nab more of them eventually. So for now, my tourney list is taking genestealer cult rather than 3 carnifexes

Yeah theyre great, i just dont have any forgeworld at the moment and a malanthrope would be priority 1 if i ever indulge there.

I think ultimately, as far as monsters that do crowd control, Tyrannofex with fleshborer hives has you covered. 40 S4 shots per turn, and its next to impossible to remove with small arms fire. Throw that sucker in a tyrannocyte in his backfield and watch your opponent squirm!

Tournament rapid reaction: WARNING - this ended up being longer that i thought. Lots of rambling.
Not great. Not terrible, and i had some bad luck with maelstrom objectives and some poor beta strike rolling. I played Tau, CSM, and Death Guard w/ a knight. I lost badly, won, lost. Got crushed by a tau alpha strike and the DG knight tore through half my army. But overall: Positives: 1. Swarmlord, at full strength, is great. Significantly better than a tyrant/trygon and our best combat weapon. Tore through a sicaran and a defiler each in a turn. 2. T1 charges are obviously a huge advantage. Swarmy helps with that. 3. My list had lots of deepstrikers. It gives a nice amount of flexibility. Once i actually learn how to play 8th edition well, this will be another strength. Unfortunately, i just havent played enough. Bringing in 4-5 units in T1 that must be 9" away from enemies is really hard to space appropriately. My opponents did good jobs of limiting my trygon tunnels and ambushes to the outskirts of the board. I probably shouldve held off on more of them. 4. GSC mind control is a hell of a power. Ambushing a magus to take control of a storm eagle is fucking great. I used that power to help crack transports T1 so that i could shoot/charge the guys inside. 5. The look on peoples faces when i trygon tunnel 20 termigants. ... but then those gants kill a single plague marine...

Screamer killer is the nickname for fexes with scything talons. And na i didnt go into detail with my loadouts here. 2 had spitters and 1 had a barbed strangler.
For more details: Adrenal glands on trygon, gants, flyrant and fex. Bio plasma on fex. Claws and deathspitters on flyrant. 15 devilgaunts, 5 termigants.

I was mostly immune to morale and i dont understand how to use the strategem about hitting first in combat. It seems way too niche. You pick an enemy that charged and get to attack it immediately AFTER it makes its attacks??? Whats the point?

It is niche but it has saved my butt more than once. Again situational, but it can come in handy. Especially when your opponent has made multiple charges. Otherwise cp is mostly used on the re-rolls strag. Especially for nids. To make them charges, or land a much needed hit.
