I like this! Not only is it fluffy, but it makes snipers a viable tool in the tool belt. Now, fingers crossed that snipers can flatly target characters and don't need to roll 6's to hit or something.

Yeah i love this idea but hope that its not something super crazy where u loose a character per turn due to a dedicated squad and low wound models like guard officers

And I doubt that would be the case. I mean, even if Snipers or the equivalent can target characters outright, it doesn't mean their guns will pack a 10 wound punch. I mean, sure, your stock Sergeant maybe at risk, but that Chaplain probably wont be. Of course, a Vindicare might be a different story, but then again, he should be.

What do you think, 8-10 wounds for a hive tyrant? A walker giving nice army perks could finally bring them back to the forefront. Love it. Have to wonder what will happen with units like tyrant guard which had the sole purpose of taking fire? Just ordered a Swarmlord. Now all I need is some Tyrant Guard to back him up. Can't possibly be more exited.

Just picked up a hive tyrant torso on ebay. So I can make a Swarmlord should he be useful or just a 5th tyrant because fuck it why not - options baby, options.

Thanks for the kind words daniel, why . I'm on vacation at the moment so I haven't had good internet access, but all the new leaks look great. The character rules are pretty fantastic in particular. I'm hoping that my GSC keep some form of "look out sir" to reflect the brood mind telepathy. The new to wounds chart is super intuitive, and look at how good the Morlanaut is. This is shaping up to be a phenomenal edition. *all aboard the hype-train*

It looks like twin-linked essentially makes a weapon rapid-fire rather than reroll hits. So a twin-linked bolter would have 4 shots at 12". Dakkadakka?

Combi Weapons get to shoot either option all game or both options each turn at -1bs. And jesse...I don't think you'll be happy with melta guns. Rend -4 and d6 wounds, with 2d6 pick the highest at half range. Also confirmed that blast weapons are d6 shots when fired, and a pretty good assumption large blasts are 2d6 shots when fired. The twin linking and combi weapons thing is...wow. Going to make a lot of marginal units really fun to use again!

Well a twin linked rapid fire gun, like on say a landraider crusader, would get 4 shots at half range for each bolter. So at 12" a crusader is pumping out 8 assault cannon shots and 24 bolter shots. Anti infantry like whoa

The new rules for melta are... interesting. They might be a slight bit better against light vehicles at long range (I think a squad of four would have a pretty good chance at killing a Dreadnought at 12"), but "only" being strength 8 will hurt against heavy vehicles, even at short range. I guess it depends on what Land Raiders and Knights look like toughness wise. Destroying Leman Russ squads (which we do have a toughness stat on) will be really, really difficult (in fact, Leman Russ's in general seems really, really tough). It seems like they'll be potent against T7 and lower, but struggle against T8 and higher.
Interestingly enough, a heavy bolter is just as likely to damage a Leman Russ as a meltagun, though it'll only do one damage instead of D6 or 2D6 pick the highest.
Also, aren't Battle Cannons large blast weapons, so won't large blasts be doing D6 and standard blasts presumably fewer? It seems like the battle cannon is now meant to be a monster and tank hunter rather than an anti-infantry weapon.
