I fucking love Mel, though I've never used flocks so have never seen his flock playlist - I know what I'm doing on my lunch break today! Thanks man!

Yeah, flock seems out of vogue for 40k, but it is pretty important for ASoIaF and historicals (not every battle was Agincourt). As much/more important as/than the flock, though, is the earth texture stuff. It just looks so much more realistic than grit and gravel. Just be prepared to get super messy with it.

Yup. In the last pic, the one star is squatter than the other. It was a pain.

And bonus, you accidentally made an awesome Dornish spear unit for A Song of Ice and Fire

I didn't do any spears through the stars. I'm definitely not going through the work to add that. Instead, I was going for the heraldry of the judges and notaries' guild of Florence.

I really like the brighter red, but I'm biased because that's what I chose to do. The darker looks really good too, frankly, so I don't think you can go wrong!

Yeah, I can't decide if I like the brighter red or the darker. The brighter is more vibrant with more tonal variation, but the dark just has the more grim and evil feel of the Lannisters. The dark seems fitting. Also, I managed to get them based. It was a pain slicing each dude off of his base. I had hoped to be able to cut off those little tabs underneath the bases, but that didn't work, so instead I had to gently slide my hobby knife under their shoes to saw/slice them off. It actually wasn't that hard as long as you're gentle and go slow. Here they are without bases!
