I love the aesthetic of the BFG ships. Even being old metal models with limited details, the resemblance of a knife is so strong that they just scream: "Danger!" The aesthetic of the BFG ships is amazing. I have about 2000 points of Eldar ships to paint up too, and they're wonderful sculpts too. Also, these are actually plastics! The two really big ships are metal and the little tiny ships are too, but the cruisers, the medium sized ones, are plastic kits with a ton of options... too bad they don't make them. There are some really good Shapeways alternatives, but they're sometimes the same price as ebay.

These are the last of the Crusading fleets I have to paint. It's a few escorts and extra cruisers for the Dangels and one extra escort for the Skithans. Now I just need to make some terrain, some nebulae, moons and asteroid fields. I was thinking of making a couple of planets as well, but with the way movement works, it's just too difficult to use 3d terrain for something that big in BFG. I had tried using floral foam to make the asteroids, but the texture is all wrong, so it's on to good old polystyrene.

Some last minute stuff for Adepticon. I have two moons to paint, as well as some gas clouds to make/paint for Battlefleet Heresy stuff. All actual models and units are painted and based, now, including some plasma gunners that I didn't know I needed until Friday.

I have always loved the look of BFG terrain, and you have done a wonderful job on them as always

And, so, I'm all done painting and modeling for Adepticon! I didn't have that much to do this year because I'm not bringing a new army (aside from all that BFG stuff I painted), just some new units and terrain. Anyway, here is the last bit of terrain I'm doing for now. Two moons and three gas/dust clouds. I might, might, do more clouds, since they're sort of fun to do. I didn't want to do any planets because of how they interact with units on the tabletop, so I'm just using the flat cut-out ones.

So, with Adepticon over, it's time to work on new projects. I have assembled about twenty bolter and plasma equipped Grenadiers for the Militia force as well as a squad of cataphractii terminators with volkites and lightning claws for a new Salamanders force. Oh, and I've been planning out a Daemons of the Ruinstorm force, getting some bits and tools to do a proof of concept conversion piece. So, there are three Heresy armies I might end up building/painting simultaneously. Oh, and also the mutant Genestealer Cult force. Yeah... this seems reasonable. In any case, here are four test models for the militia force. They (obviously) aren't fully painted, just the base color, but I sort of want feedback on what people think. Some I'm not as huge a fan of, two are sort of tied in my head for what I want to do. I might try some new test models in slightly different colors soon, but we'll see.

There's a bit too much glare for me to see what's going on with them. Any chance we can get another photo?

There's a bit too much glare for me to see what's going on with them. Any chance we can get another photo? You can get another photo, but there is no guarantee that it will be glareless. I had difficulty getting 100% rid of the glare. Part of it is the semi-glossy coat on two of them. In any case, I hope this is less glare-y. Any tips on how to get rid of glare? I used only indirect light with this picture.

I like the 3rd and 4th the most. I think those are great base colors and lend themselves nicely to matching with other colors at the edges or on pauldrons/knee pads, etc.

I've done some test models up for my upcoming Salamanders legion project. Here are some Cataphractii built for boarding operations. This is just the base color with the claws done up in fiery orange. These dudes are going to be part of the Ebon Drake's crew, so I'm going to have to put a ton of black and flames on them since they pretty much worship fire.
