I'm nearly done, but am avoiding letting anyone but my dog see me freak out about how much is left.

Don't worry I got them done. And you all laughed when I decided my two main armies were going to rely on grey drybrushed black

I had a 30k game this past weekend that necessitated the painting up of some new dudes. I painted up some plasma executioner turrets for my predator squad and a seven man plasma support squad. Because, you know, you can never have enough AP 2 and overheating in a Dangels army. Too bad the plasma sergeant killed himself during his first shot despite his artificer armour.

My next Horus Heresy project is an Imperialis Militia and Cults army based off of the Anvil Industries "Daughters of the Burning Rose," which are toned down Sisters of Battle replacement miniatures. I plan on running them with Survivors of the Dark Age and Warrior Elite provenances (basically little stat buffs and special rules that allow you to customize your Militia army). Survivors of the Dark Age gives all of your Grenadiers (read Stormtroopers/Kasrkin) power armour and all of your normal militia (read guardsmen and heavy weapons teams) carapace armour (it also lets you take super-lasguns). The army will also be super techy with lots of servitor and tiny mechano-squires carrying ammo and junk for all of the heavy weapons and artillery. One of the cool things is that you can also make Ogryns in power armour with this (as well as lots of other things). The rulebook encourages that you just do whatever the hell you want for your Ogryns, since most planets in the Imperium probably didn't have Ogryns specifically but did have giant trained animals, simplistic combat robots, possessed freaks or whatever. I wanted to make Robo-knights with power axes to support all my little power armoured gun-knights. What I ended up making is way too big. I bought some Onager legs to try and make an artillery platform, but it was too small. Then I decided to use the legs for a Robo-knight Ogryn stand-in, but it's way too big. It's (barely) on a 60mm base instead of a 40mm and it's a head taller than a Contemptor. So, I might end up making a small batch of Mechanicum allies and use this and others like it as stand-in Domitars (I'd also want to convert up some stand-in Castellax using the same base concept with different arms and some guns). Anyway, here's my Robo-knight, with Onager legs, Kastellan torso and upper arms, Stormcast forearms and weapons, and some third party, 54mm knight/gladiator helmet. I forgot that I still need to do some green stuff work to hide the Stormcast origins of the forearms and weapons, but it's pretty much done as is.

Anvil Industries still has yet to deliver on the Daughters of the Burning Rose Kickstarter, a solid four months after they were initially planned. So, instead of building an army of pre-post-human gun knights, I've been working on a Battlefleet Heresy fleet for my Skithan Knights. So far, the only ships I have finished are a grand cruiser and three cruisers. This is the general color scheme I plan on using for the army, though I'm still undecided if I want to do black, white, or some other color as a secondary color. I am at the point where I have to make a decision, since I have the green on a bunch of Imperial ships and now I need to paint their prows.

Instead of painting the rest of my Skithan fleet for Battlefleet Heresy, I've been painting up my Dark Angels fleet. I have one more cruiser than this painted, but I sort of shattered its flight stand, so I'm trying to repair it (and it might be a bit before it fully is set). Anywhere, here are the majority of the cruisers for my Dangels fleet, including a battleship.

Just put together my first Forgeworld tank. It was not fun having to heat up water to bend giant panels into shape. Not fun at all. And who is that in the background?I know you just said they are a total pain to put together, but this still make me want FW models with ridiculous weapons.

For the Skithan Cruisers with armoured prows, I decided to do them in simple heraldic patterns (quartered and eighthed fields in red and blue, blue and white vertical division, white T on red field) using the natural patterns of the prow. This is the end of the Skithan fleet, it's all finished up. I still have two cruisers and six escorts for the Dangels to do before I start working on scenery.

I love the aesthetic of the BFG ships. Even being old metal models with limited details, the resemblance of a knife is so strong that they just scream: "Danger!"
