Right, I was referring to their role in the Ordo Hereticus, since its a natural extension of their role in the Ecclesiarchy. Shouldn't have said they were formed by the inquisition haha but in current 40k, the Ordo Hereticus falls under their umbrella hence they, the Deathwatch, the Grey Knights, and the Inquisitors themselves make up the "Inquisition" as it were.

I have a feeling the WD will clear it up. The sisters are neat bu no mobility. Custodes will be a power house.

GW officially said that there will be no formations or detachments in the near future for either Custodes or Sisters of Silence. The only way to take them is Unbound, which 90% of 40k players and all tournaments refuse to allow, so we'll rarely see either force on the table for 40k. Here is the excerpt from their facebook:
"The kits in this set are designed primarily for Horus Heresy games, but rules are provided to let you add them to your Warhammer 40,000 games if you want to. You are quite right – currently this is limited to Unbound games, or you and your opponent agreeing they can be included for some other narrative reason. Neither force is currently an active military force in the galaxy (The Adeptus Custodes don't leave Terra, and the Sister of Silence have not bean widely active for 9,000 years) , so they don't feature in any current Imperial formations, which tend to reflect active forces at the close of the 41st millennium. Both do still exist though, so who knows, we might just see more of them in future."

The WD has the 30k rules for custodes and explains how to create 30k armies with them - and goes on to explain that the forthcoming HH book 7 will have more detail and options - but yeah, right now no 30k rules for SoS or any way to play them without going unbound.
Though you could take a 30k army of custodes and play it against 40k armies and see how it goes!

The 30k SoS rules will be in December's White Dwarf, along with a preview of Inferno. I'm guess the preview will just be preview pictures of a few pages like FW's website has when the books are available.

Awesome, now I won't feel bad about adding a couple squads of them into my other Sisters.

Holy crap! This is awesome. I definitely love having the Custodes and Sisters as options to bolt on to my Imperial Alliance!

This is cool for armies of the imperium, but holy shit dude how much more shit can GW just gift to imperial players? Where was the change to Tyranids and synapse/shadow in the warp when the community cried out? Where was the change to CSM so that multiple iterations of Veterans of the Long War actually did something? Man oh man
