Nick signed us up for something, was it doubles? Was it the Team tourney? Who is in? What is our theme? Can it be Scotch?

I'm doing 40k Friendly and Imperial Assault. And I think Nick signed us up for the Team. I can do Nids or SM. I do want to do Doubles though.
All those sentiments apply to chix as well.

I'm doing 40k friendly, and signed us up for the team tournament, which is doubles. Its me, Dex, Jeff, and Russell expressed interest but idk if he was serious. I'm down with Nids, SM (I'll have my pre-heresy dudes by then), or the Eldar Alliance.

I think Nids is the best option, since most of us play it and if Russell hops on board we can easily give him models to use. And it makes it easier to build the display board for the army, have a common theme throughout, etc etc. Hive Fleet CST in all its red-green/black-green glory.

It'd be pretty cool to do "genecult" by mixing imperial and tyranid forces. You could do a really cool hybrid genecult using the inquisition rules, taking a psyker inquisitor as the Magus and using the various henchmen as variations of hybrids.
Mechanically speaking this would allow you to take the Anti-Armor nids can need as acolytes get access to a variety of special weapons, including melta and plasma.
According to the rules of the tourney the inquisition are only treated as allies of convenience as opposed to come the Apocalypse.
Example List:
Magus (Ordo Xenos Inquisitor) [Bolt Pistol, Carapace Armor, Force Sword, Rad Grenades (-1 Toughness to charged unit), ML 1 psyker, x3 Servo skulls (Denies scout moves/infiltrate nearby), Liber Hereticus (Gives scout to unit)]
Inquisitorial Warband - 1x Psyker [ ML 1 psyker], x4 Crusader [Storm-Shield, Power Sword], x4 Death-cult assassin [x2 Power Swords], x2 Priests [Chainsword, las pistol, rosarius], Land Raider Crusader [Psybolt ammunition (+1 str on all boltguns & assault cannons), x2 hurricane bolters, Multi-melta, assault cannon)
Inquisitorial Warband - x1 Psyker [ML 1 Psyker], x6 Acolytes [Flak Armor, Laspistol, Chainsword], x3 Acolytes [Carapace Armor, Meltagun, Laspistol], Valkyrie [x2 Stormstrike Missiles, Lascannon]

List brings a fair amount of anti armor, adds 5 warp dice to the community pool, and has a deathstar capable of 2++ re-rollable shenanigans if you roll the sanctuary power. Otherwise its a 3+ re-rollable.

Well according to rumors we may actually have a gene cult book by then, but I'm not holding my breath. The gene cults have never really tickled my fancy much, though I'm sure GW will (eventually) have some baller models that I'll gladly steal for use with my normal nid swarm.

The team tourney is pretty involved time wise, its a rotating doubles setup. And there will be some seriously hardcore opponents.

They talk about it on the website like its supposed to be more laid back and casual fun, but I fully expect to see some dick-combos from our opponents. I don't plan on winning anything, but at least want to have a cool display and narrative to our armies. If we wanted to do Tau, Eldar, Nids etc. just to bring D weapons on a wraithknight, marker light shenanigans and FMCs etc, to give us a better chance of winning games, we can do that. Technically its still a Xenos army, which I'm down with. I just think the stronger theme is going all in on one faction, and having fun with it. Thoughts? |

Unfortunately no (current) Nid LoW fits into the parameters that the tourney requires, but we can go ham on Flying Tyrants, malanthropes, drop pods, lictor shame, spore spam, and all kinds of cool stuff. It will be a blast to say the least - and we can build a display board that shows our combined hive fleets assaulting an imperial position of some kind, over a teranoformed landscape...fuck, I'm hard now.
