I'm glad guard got some love. Shame you'll only ever see the armored version on the table. The infantry version suffers to much from the loss of Objective Secured.

I love the psyker one... harnessing warp charges on a 2+ or else getting immediately executed by the Commissar...Now if that doesn't have Imperium written all over it, I don't know what does

These are awesome, fluffy, and while powerful they're balanced by the fact that you have to bring so many bodies. Love that the tanks get orders too, that's insanely good! And so much modeling capability, with creating sentinal commanders, tank commanders, etc etc

The artillery formation looks very promising though, the ability to split-fire and ignore cover on any AM artillery platform is fantastic.

I just realized how large the main "core" formation is - if you're not taking a tank army, you're putting down 1100 points and 170 infantry minis even before you start adding in auxiliary formations lol
That's a LOT of bodies! But I think the rules are worth it - with FRF,SRF and the rerolls of 1, you're looking at potentially 300-450 Lasgun shots at a single enemy unit. Bye bye death stars! That's 262 hits with the rerolls, and even at T5/T6 we're looking at 30 wounds. At T4 its 87 wounds, T3 its 131. That's just...so many saves guys. omg.

And when they're rerolling their 2+ invuls? T5-6 - 0.83 wounds T4 - 2.4 wounds T3 - 3.63 wounds
Let's add in FNP T5-6 - 0.5 wounds T4 - 1.5 wounds T3 - 2.4 wounds
BYE BYE DEATHSTARS

Massed fire does nothing to deathstars, as Jeff has pointed out. The best way to remove deathstars like superfriends is to take Gargants and stomp them out. 6s remove models and ignore all the 2++ re-roll bullshit. I'm telling ya, the infantry platoon won't see any play outside of casual play. The the tank company on the other hand can be really good. AV 14 is already hard for many armies to deal with, add the fact that the tanks in the company get +1 BS and also can force re-rolls on the damage chart and your cooking with gas. The command benefits also let you dish out 3 orders from your commander. Tank Company + Air Company and your a hard list to beat.

I'm not that familiar with Deathstars yet, the only one I faced was a Lychguard in a Decurion: 3++/4+ FNP with a re-roll of 1...that was a pain to deal with. What units have 2+ Invuls with re-rolls/FNP?
