If you're willing to put up with some dramatic commentary, the little vids give a pretty cool view of the game - although make the Scourge look completely outclassed.
One thing, though, that I really wish games like this would do; instead of the typical "must move 1/2 distance", have a min/max move for various ships. Being fast can be just as bad as it is good if your weapons aren't a full turret mount/you can't swing abroad to fire.
A ship with a min 3", max 12" is extremely nimble, a ship with a min 6", max 10" is extremely cumbersome... and both feel/play that way.
All that said, this game definitely has my intrigue. I wish you could be a little more flexible with what armies you pick up instead of (generally) tacking them on to the starter box(es)... but shrug.

That's why I'm suggesting we all go in on one pledge. That way the two starter sets won't feel like a tax if we have two people wanting to play UCM and Scourge, and everyone can just pay for the army they want.

I looked at the kickstarter, and some vids of the game, and I'm really intrigued. I like the look of all the factions, frankly, so am up to play whatever people don't want to play lol
My only hesitation, is that I'll once again be spread too thin game-wise, and much like my Super Dungeon Explorer set, this is going to be something that I invest in and then never really play with. Plus I don't really need to add more models to my painting backlog, with about 3000 points of nids still primed black, and 600 points or so of necrons in the same state, and 1000 points or so of Dark Eldar in the same state...
When does the kickstarter end? Early December? I'll see how much of my backlog I can get through by then, and how frequently I'm able to make the Dojo/Wnaderers game days; that's going to be the deciding factor for whether I should get into another mini game.

Yeah, no rush on this one. No early birds or any of that shit. I understand Nick, but look at all those shiny Lizardmen! I believe in you.

Yeah, my above comment basically meant "I wish we could choose what was in the starter set", which is white privilege at it's finest. Because I'm entitled, so I should have PHR and Shrilanka (or whatever) instead of UHC and Scourge.
I'm stupid.
Anyway... I'm really tempted to go big on this, because it's basically a well-supported Battlefleet Gothic, in part designed by (probably) the guy who did BFG in the first place. Chambers has some hardcore good stuff behind his name, and I've heard good things about Dropzone, so I'm not worried about gameplay value - it's already there.
I'm close to thinking about half the Commander (for a full boxed set, and the fancy special ship) split with someone, plus the other two starter sets. Sheeeeeeet, that's close to $200 dropping on a game that won't come out for 6 months, but there are already a *lot* of free extras getting tacked on.
As far as random gaming, because I'm in the same boat... would anyone be up for trying to get some mid-week game nights going? My schedule generally means I can't do things in the evening unless I'm off that whole day, and my days off tend to be, like, Wednesday or something. Unfortunately I also have short notice on my schedule, and in the past I haven't been able to drum up a whole lot of interest in random stuff. I'd be down to play more of this (smaller, 1-ish hour games), try out Super Dungeon, pull out some board games, etc... really I'm more than down. I'm jonesing. Hard.
So yeah, if anyone else is up for some "Joel schedule specials", I'd be more likely to start getting into smaller games/picking up more board games to have on hand.

We're not restricted to four people = four armies. If more than one person wants to play each, we can pick and choose as we go. The only thing we have to get is the starter set.
All I know is that this is the cheapest this will ever be. So if it's awesome and you love it, you'll end up regretting not pitching in. If it sucks and you hate it, you can at least break even when you sell. I'm getting the Captain for sure and will be happy to add on anything anyone wants.

Man those ships look cool. Ok, I think I'm in too. That was easy. I really want to go for the Captain Pledge, because of all the sweet freebies we also get. By my calculations, the set would cost $170 US and includes: - 2 UCM starter sets (14 ships)
- 2 Scourge starter sets (14 ships)
- 2 rulebooks
- 2 tape measures
- 2 dice sets
- 2 game mats
- Exclusive UCMF Atlantis Model
- 1 Free Scourge and UCM frigate sprue (4 frigates each, 8 total)
- 1 Free Shaltari and PHR firgate sprue (4 frigates each, 8 total)
- 1 Free cruiser for each race (4 in total)
- Potential for an additional 4 frigates per race (when the KS hits $500k pledged...which is going to happen, bc duh)
I would say we should also add on 2 starter sets for both Shaltari and PHR, so that in total we have 4 full starter fleets (14 ships each), plus the 4 (potentially 8) additional frigates for each race, and the additonal cruisers for each race (1 each) for a total of 19-23 ships per fleet. The total there would be...$387 US approx. So, split 4 ways, that's about $97 a pop.
Is that what we want to do? Seems like a freaking STEAL. I'm really drawn towards UCM the more I look at them, but would be more than happy any of the others as well.
I also just realized that I thought this was dropZONE commander, but this is the companion game that is essentially the in-orbit version of the game, correct? So if we get this game, we should probably get dropzone as well...and play a campaign...starting at different planets and then fighting onto the surface...just saying...

Why would I ever TL;DR when I know Nick will do it in less than 24 hours?
I wouldn't want to split it evenly as there's more goodies in the starter sets, including books, terrain, etc. I would like to do a 1-for-1, as in, you pay for what you're getting, rather than an even split. That way, people can also say "Hey, get me a one of these bolt ons please" and no one else has to chip in for it.
And Dropzone looks sweet as well. I have some PHR sitting around from Adepticon, but I've never played.

I think I'm going to get a captain set for myself. Maybe some other shit, but I'm selfish.

I'm tempted to get a captain for myself as well...then we can do tradesies for larger armies, should we choose.

Man you guys are hilarious. Well Nick, can I please jump on your pledge then? I would like two PHR starters. I'll pay for the 2nd set of starter box goodies you get as well. I might have some other bolt-ons eventually too.

Yeah sure thing; I'm not pledging just yet, want to see what additional things get unlocked (I know, counter intuitive since pledging would help unlock more things), since I may actually want to get various bolt-ons as well. I'm going to check back in on this thing in a couple weeks, around thanksgiving, and see what looks good.
