I'm excited because I can probably strap a big ol' railgun and missiles from a hammerhead to my Greater Gnarloc, and magnetize that B so it can be a riptide or this walking monument to destruction they call the storm surge.

Rules leak for the storm surge suit: i.imgur.com/iJTZPmT.jpg Highlights: 360 points, can be taken in units of 3 in a LoW slot Main gun can shoot S:D within 10", but is otherwise just a standard S10/9 ordnance weapon. Cluster missiles are going to be a bitch for infantry with 4D6 shots. I honestly think its decently balanced; its basically a Tau Imperial Knight equivalent, in terms of its role and cost; but with only a 3+ save and T6, it wont be too tough to take down.

Now compare to Hierodules and wonder what the fuck the word "balance" means.
Keep in mind it can only be Poisoned on a 6, has FNP stock, and 8 wounds. Can't really CC it because of Stomp. What will you use to take down a unit of two or three of these sitting in cover?

And Jeff - if someone is bringing 3 of these things, its no worse than an Ad-Lance formation. I feel like it could honestly be largely ignored, or taken out in CC with dedicated GC hunters (which I guess should start being a thing now) since they can't overwatch.
They can't stomp if they have their heels dug in, which any smart player will do on turn 1 to max their shooting there-after.
And yeah, poison on a 6, ID on a 6, blah blah blah I get it...but its still only T6, and with a 3+ save...so plasma or better turns it to a freaking' crisp, barring a 5+ FnP save which isn't too bad.
4 Blaster Trueborn in a venom will do 3 wounds on average per turn; so my dark eldar list (with 3 of those units as standard) should pull down 1 per turn. If I brought Fire Dragons instead, which I should start doing frankly, suddenly each unit is doing 4 wounds on average. That 3+ save is really not all that, there's a TON of AP3 shooting in this game.

Ah, didn't realize it took Stomp away. That's not that bad, since that's where they'll be all the time. Only thing with being within Melta range is that D, but I guess it's no different to 1W models than the other gun. I still think 360 is cheap.
Basically, I just don't know what Nids are to do anymore. Play Conquest it seems.

I'm betting we get some cool stuff come Q1 2016 when we get another new book. Should either a) get a sweet new $150 LoW model (bitter sweet) or b) get the Heirodule added to the codex and costed at 300 points. Also hopefully something cool happens to make us the CC army we should be, by helping us ignore overwatch or something.

Warhammer is not and never has been balanced. It isn't about creating a tournament system, it's about fighting battles on a tabletop. Battles are inherently unequal, and it's up to the people in the game to make it an enjoyable experience for one another.
It still bothers me that all of the Tau stuff are monstrous or gargantuan creatures. The 360 firing arc is annoying, the armor save and feel no pain shenanigans is irritating, and that you can be damaged multiple times with no combat effectiveness problems is dumb. That said, it's a cool model and could be fun in some games.
And in reference to the 'nids, I have no idea why they aren't all beasts. That would make sense to me.

What will you use to take down a unit of two or three of these sitting in cover? In the current meta I think Marines (Grav), Daemons (D-Thirster), and Eldar (Pretty much everything) all have really good options for killing GMCs.
