Since I know we have some Vegans in the group (Jeff, Nick Baran, maybe more), I thought this was kinda cool. danswargames.blogspot.co.uk/2015/05/is-warhammer-vegan.htmlShort answer: most of the products we use in this hobby are free of animal materials, which is great. But it looks like some of the GW line, and certain brush manufacturers, are a little more dodgy about the issue. Overall, interesting read - not being vegan, I never think about the impact that something as simple as a hobby can have on ethical animal treatment, so this was kind of cool to see.

Oh nice! Yeah, I've made the switch to synthetic brushes and actually think they're superior to fur brushes and last significantly longer. My Games & Gears synthetics are used pretty exclusively, so that's cool.
Really awesome to see the response from those paint companies. I actually hadn't really thought enough about that before now, and I'll be switching over to Reaper and Vallejo exclusively. Thanks a lot for that Nick! It's great to see people taking an interest in how to mitigate the damage they do the world in any aspect of their life, especially when it comes to animals just trying to live their lives.

The water that you used to manufacture all hobby paints has been tested using horse blood agar. You can't buy vegan paint.

I'm all up for using synthetic polymer brushes and paint and glue solvents that also come from crude oil. Ah yes, got to love those big buck black oil companies.
Considering that I work for a company that licenses technologies exclusively to Oil, Gas, and Petrochemical companies, I suppose I'd be hypocritical otherwise. So thank you for helping to keep me employed (at least until Sept/Oct).
Though if there were brushes made exclusively from hemp.....I'd totally support that industry!
