I'm with CJ on this one - taking every phase of every turn and simply focusing on "what can I do to make the most of this single phase, or single dice roll, etc". Knowing that you did exactly what you should have, based on statisitcal average rolls, is some solace. That, accompanied with Jeff's ideas about a lot of the poor results coming down to dice rolls (its a game of chance after all), and it maks poor games/turns easier to stomach.
I know I personally struggle with this too, as so many of you have noticed. I've gotten better at laughing off the terrible dice rolls (and the fact that my green dice REFUSE to roll 2+ for my skull crusher armor saves), but still need to work on it. At the very least, I try to learn something from every game, and often times losing games is a great way to try out new tactics - the "well I'm already losing, why not charge my BSB single handedly into the flank of that unit, just to see what happens" kind of thing.
That being said, I would love to get a game in tonight - anyone free? I need to play...well everyone except Kyle.

Yeah, CJ's got the right idea. For instance, I love Fantasy Football. For 3 months, I obsess compulsively about who goes in week in and week out. Right now, we're entering the playoffs in our league. I've been in first place all season with a record of 9-4. The shitty part is that 3 of those losses have come in the last 4 weeks. My confidence is fucked to all kinds of butts right now, because those losses are essentially my fault. My first loss of the season came in week 2, and there was nothing I could have done to prevent it. I had the best score I possibly could have gotten, and there was no one on my bench that could have done better than the players in. However, in these last 3 losses, everything was a coaching error. Had I made ONE different decision on a player, ANY different decision, I would have won every single one of those games. Granted, it didn't matter, as there was no way anyone was going to come up on me and I still secured a playoff spot and first round bye, but I now have zero confidence in my ability to not lose next week and cry every night.
That's why I like Warhammer; when you lose, it's due to random bullshit usually, not because you are an idiot. YOU'RE NOT AN IDIOT KYLE.

Kyle vs Jack
16-9
First time playing the new lizards. Lost but killed the big frog so who cares. One of the best back and fourth games I've ever played. Definitly found my list to bring in April.

Jack definitely brought a kick ass list. 3 red furry vampires are tough to get through. Having the shadow caster also makes for a nasty surprise pit of shades!!
Gripping dual between slann and vampire lord!

I just got an email saying I'm in the fantasy championships if I want to be - but just found out that I have a bachelor party the same weekend, so I have some hard decisions to make.
How's everyone doing on the bros v snows games? I haven't played fantasy in like a month and a half...should probably get back on the horse if I'm thinking of taking the spot at Adepticon!

Pain fades, chicks dig scars, glory lasts forever, nick... Glory lasts forever. Of course your going to join the championship.
That said however, yes 40k has by far out paced fantasy for games. I still need a game v Russ to finish my snobro games.
2400 of Lizzie's willing to take on anyone!
