So I've been following the infinity scene for a little while now and it seems really solid. The new edition just came out about two months ago and I've heard nothing but good things. Generally everyone says its really balanced, and its a hell of a lot more affordable then 40k. The 1 hour play time also looks really appealing. Before I drop 40$ on an Aleph starter though, does anyone else already play or would be interested in learning? Looks like a fun game but itd be no good if there was no one else to play against.

I play, it is very fun. I can lend you some stuff and have the starter box if you want to try some of it out.

The game has a really nice aesthetic, and has a cool setting (reminds me alot of GitS, Shadowrun, or Akira). I've seen there are alot of missions though, do you just play whatever is it like 40k where there are some standard rules for casuals?

Its flexible and there are many scenarios! The rules are free on their website. I would be happy to do a demo game some night this week.

Unfortunately I'm pretty locked up on free time till mid-march, but I'd be all for playing a game sometime. Maybe we can set something up for then. I plan on picking up the Aleph Box before then and maybe a few pieces of terrain.

There were a crew of guys that would come into NDG to buy stuff and play one or two Wednesdays a month. If you're going to AdeptiCon I could introduce you to them Will. They'll be running the Infinity events and at least one of them lives in the city and they were super welcoming.
Dex, I don't know that we've met, but the same applies to you if you don't already know them.
Watching them play though, I got nothing out of it. You need so much terrain for an aesthetically pleasing game, the tables they played on always just looked like a mess (though the new cardstock terrain is nice looking. That's a major hang up they addressed.) The ability to put all of your orders into one guy by just hanging everyone else back while the one acts like a super hero was always weird to me.
Some of the most beautiful models in the industry belong to Infinity and Malifaux, yet neither game appeals to me.
Wild West Exodus and Afterlife both seem to have really cool mechanics I can get behind though. I have a genuine obsession with Wild West Exodus honestly. Have you scoped that game out at all Will?

The newest edition of infinity fixes some of those issues I think nick. The game only needs nine pieces for casual mission, and then a few handfuls of scatter. I've looked into it a bit and I can get full table for just under 120, and considering the armies are so much cheaper I think that's feasible. As for the super man tactic ive heard it only works against new or unskilled players and is often countered by a balanced force.
