Alright, it's final.
Max 2 Detachments - All Detachments are unique (0-1) Self-Ally allowed LoW Allowed - Max 610 pts (33%) Forgeworld allowed - All FW units are unique (0-1) LVO Missions 2:45 time limit - no half turns.
Now we need some RSVPs. Who will be attending our all-day Tournament on March 15th? Would the 14th work better for anyone?
And prize support - I'm thinking we do an entry fee and divvy shit up that way, I'm touching base with Linda to see if she can throw us a bone.
I'll send out an e-mail as well.

Well, I got a weird e-mail from Linda. Couple things to report.
Good news: Prize support How C&M usually runs in-store tournaments is they take the entry fees and turn them into gift certificates, adding 40% on top, which seems like a pretty good chunk. So, if 12 (the number of people who responded to the survey) of us sign up at $10 a pop, that's $168 in prizes. That's a win in my book. Here's a breakdown: $5 entry = $84 $10 entry = $168 $15 entry = $252
I'm all for the $10 entry, with a $90/$50/$28 spread for 1st/2nd/3rd. What do you guys think?
Bad news: No sales The Warhammer events haven't increased sales for her, which is unfortunately what it's all about. I'm not going to implore you dudes to buy from her or anything, but she has to have her bottom line in mind. She can't dedicate store space to something that isn't bringing anything in. She needs to try different things in order for the league down there to continue. I'm going to be starting a new thread where we will brainstorm ideas about what we can do. She sent me a couple things to think about which I'll detail there.
Please RSVP.

When you had your meeting with Linda a while back to set up the learn to play (read: when you two totally banged) what were her expectations of the event? Bringing in three people to play isn't going to magically generate hundreds of dollars in sales.
I'm not trying to shirk the blame, but I buy something at least every time I'm there. How much did she want to make off holding the escalation league at their store?

I don't really know what she expects. I'm already putting in a lot of time and energy organizing this shit, it's not my job to further market her store and try to bring new people in. I'm already providing terrain, energy, and people to play; I can't go hunting for kids.
However, in her defense, Warhammer sales have actually declined in the past months as she started dedicating space and time to a bunch of Warhammer players. From a business perspective, it doesn't compute.
She wasn't being hostile, just trying to communicate that something else needs to be done. I'm all for throwing the shit in her lap then, because I'm burning out.

I think we can go out with a bang with the tournament though; I'm personally all for a $10 buy in and some prize support. Anyone with me? Or will I win $14 on March 15th simply for showing up?

I plan on being there. So maybe you can get $28?

I wouldn't mind bumping it to $15 to make it swagtastic when I walk away with a W, but $10 works too. Glad we can still have the tournament despite the seemingly opposite effect on her sales our events have created, woof.

Full disclosure, I blame Dan K for the drop in sales, as I'm sure we all do.

Hey, I won't be able to make a firm commitment until Thursday. Instead, I can maybe help out with the organization or something. Just let me know.

I think I can make the 15th (that's the weekend before adepticon, right?)
Bah, but I gave so much painting to do A'con......oh well I'll still do the C&M tourney.
Also, someone will need to explain to me what all those acronyms mean.

I won't have my schedule til... probably Wed at best. If it's a copy-paste job, I'll have Sunday off (here's hoping). Can't expect it, though...
On the note of giving the store money - I'm in that awkward position where I'm not really expanding my armies (outside of bitz bashing, which you can't even really buy at most stores anymore), and buying even a box a month isn't something my budget is really comfortable with right now (yeah, laugh it up, I'm poor. Get over it). So while I can't drop $50 every time I walk in, I'd be happy to drop a fiver to "rent table space". NDG "threatened" us with this idea, in order to "allow" us to play "non-GW games" like Necromunda, but never actually followed through (which those interested were actually totally cool with) in order to earn some money and let us play what we wanted.
4 people show up, that's $20 in pocket, which is basically what they'd see from a given $50 box... plus any boxes/accessories that are actually purchased, that could easily be a 25% increase in net profits (in terms of 40k expenditures).
I'll stop here, because there's a more apt thread for this... but coming soon to a theater near you...
