Ok guys, we have a tournament to play. Let's figure it out!
I added a poll to see what's up with us, so please be kind to the clunky nature of our free forum's polling system and don't choose dick choices to skew things for a troll's sake. THANKS FOR NOT BEING A DICK, DICKS.
Here's a link to the LVO Missions, which use both book and Maelstrom stuff combined to have objectives flying all around and mix it up. I think they're cool and would like to use them personally, but I understand if we'd rather not.
Also check out their FAQs. Their conclusions are drawn by community poll and a council of elders, so they're a pretty good measure of where competitive 40k is at in regards to rules interpretation. They do nerf a few things like Invisibility, but that shit needs it anyway. Check it out, let me know how you feel about adopting it.
Also, are you dudes familiar with the Independent Tournament Circuit put on by those Frontline Gaming chumps? It's essentially nationwide coordinated scoring to try and quantify who is the best 40k player in the country. It's pretty ambitious, but has met some huge freaking success this past season. I've been following it along and it's really exciting; it makes me want to make an effort to be involved in the 2015 season, though I think the Midwest is pretty lacking in participation. If you guys want, we can easily make our tournament an event involved in the ITC. It's the closest our generation might ever get to Major League 40k (Sorry Father Andy).
Also, if there are options you'd like to have for the tournament that aren't in the poll, please reply here and we can figure it out. Thanks dudes!
EDIT: A "detachment" is the Combined Arms Detachment, Allied Detachment, any Codex specific detachment, and ALL FORMATIONS. Detachments are not datasheets that allow you to take a new unit as a slot in your army.
Example: Imperial players can either Ally in an Imperial Knight or take it as a Lord of War. Allying it in will count as a detachment, a Lord of War will not. However, taking a Lord of War could give up more VPs (1 for every 3 HP or Wounds) and give your opponent a +1 to seize.
