It's actually supposed to be a commentary on the state of the internet in the western world, where speed of ingestion of content has become a more valued quality than the actual veracity or detail of the content itself.

For sure Joel, that definitely makes sense. My only concern is actually then advertising what we don't have. If one Warmachine player shows up, they're not gonna get a game and will never come back again. However, if a group does come, they'll of course play, and maybe they'll stick around. We're splitting hairs of course, but it's a very good point. My only argument is PUNS. Yeah... basically I would be in favor of finding the nice mix. As is, pretty much the entire group plays 40k, probably half does Fantasy, and then there's a smattering of X-Wing, Warmahordes, and possibly some interest in other games like Infinity/Malifaux/Relic Knights. Whatever our group is focused on, it just needs to be clear. I mean, whenever there's an event through this site, it's pretty obvious what games are going to be had - people are all "Hey let's play 40k at the Dojo" or "Who wants to hit Cat n Mouse for some Fantasy?" or whatever orgy of plastic dudemans is expected. Personal example, I'd be stoked to try out the latter games listed above (even have a small RK force), but I'm not ready to just buy in without knowing the system/factions of any of them. I'm also down to try to get some people to play Necromunda, if there's enough interest. Super fun for narrative campaigns, as your gang grows/dies in the same fashion as mordheim. Also, I'd be down to try out mordheim. In the end, anyone that we tell about the group, will get the gist of it (Hey, we mainly play these games, and a few people play these others, and you could convince people to try that one, too...). Anyone that comes for a set event like at Wanderer's... well... those FB events are pretty clear as to what's going down, so no worries there. TL;DR, none of this actually matters, because people will know by the time they see us what's going on. So go for the puns. In other news, if I pick up the shadowrun boardgame, anyone want to play? Since none of you slackers (myself included) wants to GM, it could be a way to get my fix.

OMG TEXT WALL JOEL STAHP
I think you summed it up in your first sentence - with all the games that people play, we can't possibly get specific or clear in the name of our group. We're better off keeping it generic, "Third Shore Wargamers" or something like that.
If people want to sign up for the site and try to find people to introduce to new games, or stir up interest in a game we haven't played in a while, they certainly can - but we can't really create a group called "Chicago Gamers who play 40k mostly but sometimes other stuff, inquire within".

I'm a big fan of the word "Tabletop" in general.
Chicago Style Tabletop! Everything's a hot dog (not a penis) or deep dish (not dick)!

Actually we should get way TOO specific and niche, and call ourselves the "2 Store Broken Contract Players of Chicago"

I'm a big fan of the word "plebeians".
Also, I'm glad you're changing names. I always felt too non-bro to be the truest of Brohammerer's.
Then again, one of my board gaming circles is mostly queer and trans folks who don't feel so comfortable with excessive bro-ishness. I got one of them to come to NDG once for Zombicide, but that was it.
I am glad that you took me in as a sort of weird gaming orphan left on the steps of the defunct NDG, and indulge me by adding views to my Broken Contract posts. Your new evolution is a good one for what the club has become - a roving troupe of miniature wargaming advocates. I back the new incarnation 100%.

I like the idea of a name change for all the reasons you guys have mentioned.
I'm partial to Chicago Style Tabletop just because our acronym would be CST. Gets a little Midwest reference squeezed in, and who doesn't love an entire goddamn pickle on their hot dog.

Sport peppers optional. We're open to all races, creeds, etc. Cept we don't tolerate ketchup in the group. No ketchup/catsup!

Seriously, if you put ketchup on that hotdog like my idiot girlfriend does, well, I won't break up with you because you're vegan anyway and you don't like tofu dogs, but you are an idiot.

Luckily for this guy who eats ketchup on tofu pups, I'm shirtless right now.
