Storm fiends are the COOLEST!!! I 100% support skaven armies, these things are phenomenal.
Yeah so the rules are official for the tournament - I listed them in the post from earlier today on this thread, but here they are again:
2400 points No end times specific rules (but YES end times units, so stormfiends are in) Lore of Undeath is in Army Lists from End Times are allowed, but automatic 5 point per round deduction (they're pretty OP) 3 color minimum/wysiwyg
Oh, and normal WoC can bring Chaos Dwarf units without taking a hit like the End Times armies. So...Matt, might need to borrow the Tamurkhan book I sold you lol

The official WHFB FAQ states that its 50/25/50/25 now, as per End Times Glotkin - so I think that's just what all whfb games are supposed to be played at now, since it is incorporated into the official FAQ unlike the rest of the End Times rules. I sent an email to the officials at BITS to see what they're ruling is.

Guy from BITS has been emailing me asking my opinion on the rules for the tournament (guessing he's just trying to get a sense of the community and asking everyone who emails him).
He's changing it based on feedback, no End Times special characters PERIOD. but normal special characters, with no points limit, are allowed.
He's also super keen on getting clubs to come up and participate - we should absolutely get 5-6 guys together to do this thing!! They have a 4 on 4 club battle on friday night, and then the 5 round tournament sat/sunday.

How similar are the rules for Fantasy to 40k?

Some similar concepts like movement, shooting, combat...but everything within each phase is vastly different. Movement involves measuring the wheeling and arcing of blocks of troops, March moves can be made, BS is modified by range, movement beforehand, and shooting multiple shots, charges are done at the beginning of the movement phase, magic is vastly more powerful than psychic powers are and works much more intuitively, and weapon S modifies enemy armor saves via both shooting and combat, as well as via magic.
Those are the main differences. It's an altogether more tactical game because you don't have 360 degree line of sight, and you are forced to plan your moves one or two turns ahead of time with regard to charges, flanking, March blocking, etc.
