Dudes...just read through the book, it is absolutely phenomenal. Literally 400 pages of amazing narrative, really setting the tone for the end times releases and putting each race in a very clear, unique situation.
It should also be known that this is very much a campaign arc, and not the end of warhammer as we know it; I have little doubt that, across the rumored 4 end times books, the story will be resolved and the world returned to the way it was before the release.
Basically the chaos gods are invading the world en masse again, and every race is doomed and beset on all sides by demons, barbarians, orcs, and beastmen. Nagash actually sparks arkhan and mannfred to revive him in part so he can keep the chaos gods at bay, and save the world for his own domination. Really paints nagash with a lot more depth than "I want to kill everything".
Has anyone else read it? What does everyone think? I cannot wait for the next book in the series about archeaon...they set him up so well for his turn at conquering the world, and I'm unbelievably excited.

Warhammer needed this. It had drifted back toward good vrs evil in the most boring way. The strength of the GW properties is that they are not an axis vrs allies background - all the armies (and even factions within the armies) have distinct character and goals. This whole arc resets those characters. Grimgor as the savior of the Empire and the killer of Crom. Nagash stopping the hordes of the east from walking their super chaos armies into the old world. The Skaven screwing it up for themselves. Bringing their plans for total domination almost to fruition without anyone noticing they exist, before infighting makes it all fall apart, again without anyone noticing. The Dwarfs and the Elves agreeing to stand together before the Elves all suddenly piss off to fight the other Elves - then the Dwarfs killing all the other other Elves and their pretty trees in Grudge rage. All such fun.

I will be reading it as soon as I can get a copy. Nagash and the Vampire counts have always had as, their nature being the antithesis of Chaos. In fact that was one of the chief was it was different than 40K.

Feel the same way. Super stoked on more books and getting to use the Nagash model I pre-ordered.
