For the Stormfang/Wolf/Murder I decided I wanted to try and tint the canopy. I researched and found out the only real way to do it was to get clear paint, the only people who made clear paint are Japanese model companies. The only one that made black was a company called GaiaNotes. It's actually a lacquer designed to be used in airbrushes, so I had to get a lacquer thinner, Mr Hobby Thinner (also Japanese). Both things smell like they will kill you and I had to get them off ebay from Taiwan. Anyway, below are the results. The left side is a test piece graciously given to me by Dan Young. The right side is the actual canopy. For some reason with the actual piece there was this weird graininess that ended up being somewhat noticeable. However as I sprayed the inside, it came out ok. And here it is on the model itself. The lighting sucks a lot, and the canopy isn't as dark as that. All in all I'm quite happy, even with the graininess.

Tamiya Clear are really great clear, acrylic, water-soluble paints. They are readily available in the US (I used to carry them) and are non-toxic. Back in the days of Paul Sawyer as editor of White Dwarf you could see pots of it on pictures of his painting table. And it has long been the worst kept secret of the Heavy Metal team. I use the red and the green a lot but I saw whole armies where the smoke was used and it looked great.

Oh now I feel like a fool, because I could swear I looked at Tamiya and could only find tings like red and green. And of course there is Tamiya Smoke on ebay. Oh well, should I run out of this stuff, I know where to go next.

Saucy. I'm totally going to try tinting some Eldar forcefields for an ADL equivalent.
The flyer is looking USDA Grade A choice beefcakes.
