Hey all,
So I know I've talked a bit about these games (and probably others) in the past, but in said past certain ideas had been shut down by certain stores that... well... don't matter anymore, so much. cough. So.
I wanted to see if anyone would be interested in trying out Necromunda, and if enough were interested, starting a small campaign. All of the rules are free, you can probably find models to use in what you already own, as a group we have plenty of terrain... short story, it'd be super easy to do, it's just a matter of interest.
Secondly, the game Relic Knights. If you haven't heard of it, it's designed by Soda Pop Miniatures, the guys who made Super Dungeon Explore. It's relatively inexpensive - starters (which hold around 25 points, with 100 being the game limit) run for $50, and come with all the tokens/cards you could hope for. It's a pretty simple system to pick up, and has 6 or 7 factions to choose from. I picked up some stuff from a guy I know, so I'm waiting for my figs in the mail, and I know a guy with two other factions that live up at the Dojo... so if anyone is interested in trying it out it'd be easy to set up a demo.

If I can play Nids in necromunda, I'm in. I want a steam-punk hive tyrant with a monocle and top hat.

Heck yeah.
I was handed down a dozen or so metal Necromunda figures. I've also got the old school cardboard and plastic walls terrain for the game!
Nick, part of what I was given includes a Genestealer cult. My buddy converted up some ugly ass wizards to hold bolt pistols and look like they were infected with Nid juice. Wouldn't be a far stretch to add a cane and a penguin suit.

To my knowledge there are no rules for Tyranids, per se, but there are a couple of advanced clans, including a genestealer cult. I do have to say, I'd highly suggest starting with one of the basic gangs first, in order to both learn the core rules, and for balance purposes.
I played vs a 'stealer cult... the Genestealers themselves (well, self... you can only have the one) is dirty-amazing in CC as it should be. The Magus was far more of a pain, as if you roll well for powers, it's insane what that guy can do (the opponent basically could put up an 18" LoS blocking, Impassable flame wall during my turn all the time).
Look up the rules. Also, the V2 (that's version two) Skills are the way to go, as they've been revamped by the 'community'. And I would want to look over the Muscle skills, even after that, and up the anti on those some, as it's really a lackluster tree.
Gist of the game - Las-weapons are high quality gear. Yeah, really, they are. Shooting is the way to go early on, as it's just hard for a stock dude to make it into combat unscathed... but as you get some combat-related skills, you start to be really nasty in combat (combat is deadly once you get there as is, so it's more about gaining skills to get you there safely, and *then* even more tricks).
It's extremely narrative by nature, with deaths being fairly rare (but lasting injuries all the more common). As it's based on growing your gang and territory, and with the slant toward narrative goodness, it really lends itself to a map-based campaign.
With the available gangs, it's very easy to proxy (Dark) Eldar, Orks, or Guard models. I kitbashed, I want to think, a cadian command box, and some fantasy militia guys... basically two boxes plus some donated bitz, and I had all I needed for my gang. For terrain, you want lots of ruins, walkways, rubble (think collapsed cityscape)... and then some slime pools, sludge tanks, and the like. Very easy to get/build terrain for.
There *are* off shoots for wasteland battles, involving vehicles and such, but I haven't looked into those much. There are also Outlaw rules, which are good, but would need to be adjusted as becoming Outlawed is extremely harsh (but something that I think should be in the game, one way or another).
Anyway. That's all for now - I have me a pizza in the oven. Hit me up if you want to look more into this, and I can actually start putting some ideas together (or just brush up on rules and host some test games).

I think I would be interested in this, but it would depend on when/where we would be playing if this is going to be an extended campaign.

Alright... throwin' this out there - my dad and step mom are visiting today, but they usually only stay a few hours since they have to drive back... so I could host tonight with my ONE MEASLY 4x4 TABLE for anyone interested in getting a rundown of the rules. I'd be happy to moderate while two newbs play, and the system is (mostly) clean for a free-for-all if 3 or 4 people wanted to play.
So yeah, if anyone is interested I can brush up on the rules, give a better idea of what models you'd want to have on hand, etc. Lemme know, kiddos.
