Army name: The Cult of Humanoid Underground Dwellers (also known as "the CHUD")
Motto: "We rise from below!" & "For the Four-Armed Emperor!"
The cult takes root in The Sump, the toxic, polluted sewers that lies below almost all Hive Worlds. Their genes are corrupted even further beyond normal standards, they rely heavily on their vassals in the 204th regiment for surface operations. The mutations seem to have strayed them far from the will of the greater Hive Mind with the Patriarch relying mostly upon hybrid warriors and avoiding using purestrain genestealers. This strange development seems to be the Patriarch desiring his own fiefdom, away from the ambitions of the Hive Mind. -------- A brief after action report on the outskirts of the Oteck Hivesprawl were brought to Lord Calgar indicating that not only had the Hexos Vultures abided a xenos infestation for sometime, they had set about a battle plan to sacrifice the Haymakers in defense of the Hivesprawl. With Ascension Day and the fall of the Dagda Hive to the Pauper Prince's allies, the Cult of Humanoid Underground Dwellers (CHUD), it was clear the the presence of the 204th had brought something worse to this planet. Certain documents leaked from the organization pointed to Company Commander Greeves as being compliant with this deceit. Lord Calgar declared the 204th renegades and sent a missive to Holy Terra with his accusations of heresy. What remained of the 204th were last reported guarding the border of the Dagda Hive, escorting refugees out of the xenos-held territory and into further parts of the Oteck Hivesprawl. When Deathwatch and Adeptas Sororitas forces arrived to purge the suspected regiment, they found empty streets. The regiment had begun to flee. Orbital guns pounded the 204th's vessels as they withdrew from the Hivesprawl, losing many ships before jumping into the Warp. Among those that escaped was the Shield of Man, Commander Greeve's flagship. As the borders of the Dagda Hive were secured, a swift answer returned from the High Lords.
+++ The 204th Hexos regiment "The Vultures" are hereby declared Exommunicate Traitoris +++
Additionally, the Hexos system had erupted in civil strife since the outbreak of fighting on Vigilus. Initial assessments put Imperial assets in the system at critical levels, with only a small contingent of Dark Angels in direct communication. Their reports were dire and clear. A xenos cult had infiltrated the highest echelons of government and military functions in the Hexos System. So complete was their heresy that they reported no Astra Militarum support. All PDF and Astra Militarum forces seemed to be coordinating with the mutants who poured from the sewers. As of last report, a small force of Deathwing were holding a communications array near the northern pole of Hexos Prime. Extraction is an uncertainty, but currently being planned.
Company Commander Greeves is still missing in action. The Shield of Man has not been seen in the Hexos system, or elsewhere, since his regiment was were declared renegade. Significant assets from the 204th are still being used by the CHUD, including most of the Leman Russ corps and large portions of guardsmen who now swear fealty to "The Gorgon Sire". However, it would appear that the artillery depots on Hexos Prime were sabotaged during Ascension Day. Hours after fighting had begun, the entire munitorum complex erupted in a series of gigantic explosions, razing the premises. The majority of the 204th's Basilisks, Wyverns, and other artillery vehicles were destroyed, denying the CHUD such assets.
Insipiration: The old, 80s, monster movie "CHUD" is amazingly awful. As a fan of monster flicks, I loved the idea of irradiated sewer mutants rising from dark places, with glowing orange eyes, and consuming amazingly naive New Yorkers. And the prosthetics were just good enough to be memorable. The Genestealer Cult matches these themes really well, so I designed a color scheme that mimics the mutants from the movie. Several of my models have the pale skin, but I try to limit that to HQs and Elites. The rank and file are mutated horrors, even for a genestealer hybrid. The Astra Militarum assets represent the time before the Codex when a guard detachment was almost necessary to make the army strong enough to play. Now the codex can support the cult on its own and I will be relegating my company commander, commisar, and basilisks to the storage container for now. The fate of Commander Greeves is undecided.
Notable Heroes: The Gorgon Sire- Patriarch of the CHUD. Originating from a space hulk adrift in space. the Deathwing scoured the hulk and killed many of the xenos that dwelled on it. The genestealer that would one day become to Gorgon Sire stowed away on the Dark Angel vessel when the Deathwing left the cleansed space hulk. Arriving on Hexos Prime to refuel, the alien left its life raft and slipped into the winding depths of the Sump and lower levels of the Hexos Hive system. It has been centuries since it came to Hexos and has built a massive empire of influence and shadows that spans across the Hexos system and now leaks into nearby territories, Imperial or otherwise. It deserves mentioning because it is the leader of the cult and is a kickass model. He hasn't done anything really because I run him in too early and he gets shot/torn to pieces. But in time, I will learn how to use him correctly and I am confident he will become a much feared asset.
The Hullbreaker- The Abominant of the CHUD. The Annointed One at the head of the cult's aberrants known as the Sire's Wrath. The Hullbreaker is a terror on the battlefield. He has laid low Redemptor Dreadnoughts, Predators, Ork Warbosses, Ravenwing Speeders, and more in just a few fell strokes of his Power Sledgehammer. He has survived point blank melta blasts and storms of fire, his flesh regenerating too quickly to be brought down. He earned the name Hullbreaker after destroying an Imperial Fist Predator tank (from full wounds to dead) by himself in one round of combat.
The Sire's Wrath- Aberrants of the cult. These bellowing, beastly creatures aspire to the Hullbreaker's example. Known for the ferocity and sheer endurance, every enemy who faces the CHUD must keep them in mind. Very few can survive a full broadside from these monstrosities.
Mordrai, Magus Superior- The malformed second-in-command of the CHUD has long served the cult. He was the first Magus recruited to the Gorgon Sire's side and takes a large role in directing resources among the CHUD's assets. He is quite confident in his position as the Patriarch's favorite, even as a rival follows in his shadow.
Meera, Magus Inferior- The young Magus was recently recruited to the CHUD's ranks. From a purer lineage than Mordrai, she can pass for human and now often operates as the first point of contact between the cult and other organizations they are looking to infiltrate. Her powers are great and believes in time she will usurp Mordrai as the favorite of the Patriarch. Now blessed with the Crouchling, she believes it is her destiny to lead the cult standing by the Gorgon Sire. It is a vision of the future that does not include the elder Mordrai.
Dominic, Kelermorph- The pistol wielding freedom fighter does not quite buy the entire gospel that the Magus enforces, but that doesn't change his desire to make the Patriarch proud by clearing the path for the Star Gods to come.

Army name: to be named
Motto: Go for broke!
The ____ were outsiders from the beginning. They wore the markings of Ragnar’s Blackmanes, but were never really given the same honors. It was more indifference than hate that they experienced, and it drove them to prove themselves in battle. They recognized that they were often given the impossible and outright suicidal missions. They responded with their motto, “go for broke”, to continue to fight in the face of total defeat. The primaris marines quickly became one of the most decorated units, even if it was due to posthumous awards. The sagas of lone warriors facing hordes of genestealers, chaos deamons, and evens standing up to other astartes spread through the great companies.
Now they form a deadly stalker pack, famed for their Reivers surrounding and dispatching their enemies. Their mission tasking usually has them mounted in heavy transports for surgical strikes and deploying via grave-chute from high altitude drop ships. While they train to be masters in all forms of combat, there is never a disappointed face when a unit is tasked to forcibly take a point in close combat. Even the intercessors have trained extensively with the use of their bolt rifles in a close quarters engagement.
Insipiration: The idea is very heavily taken after the 100th battalion and 442nd regiment from WWII that was a US Army regiment comprised of all Japanese Americans from Hawaii. It’s a bit of an homage to my Grandfather, who served with them during WWII. They were named the “Purple heart” battalion due to the number of decorations they received. They were initially treated as expendable, and were given some of the toughest assignments. Their motto was “go for broke”, which came from a Japanese word gambare, which essentially means keep fighting even in the face of failure.
Notable Heroes:
Wolf Lord: Odessium the White Wolf Battle Leader: Proximo to be named: Slayed a demon prince and forced Abbodan to retreat in a single battle. Critically wounded Typhus.
Wolf Priest:
Rune Priest:
Ralik, Wolf Guard Veteran: A veteran reiver who has moved into a new role to train new Blood Claw recruits. He once jumped in front of oncoming fire from a Dark Talon, blocking three shots of the rift cannon with his storm shield. While the rest of his team was cut down by the hurrican bolters, he charged headfirst into the Ravenwing detachment to fell Sammael, forcing their retreat.

Dark Angels - Task Force Duriel
Dark Angels 9th Company
The forces of the 9th company are standard “greenwing.”* The 9th lost their Master* just before or just after (I haven’t decided yet) arrival on Vigilus. One of their Primaris Lieutenants, Marhod, has been given the role of “Acting Master” until his promotion can be validated by Chapter command. Marhod served as a “greyshield,” one of the mixed units of Primaris Marines from different chapters, for much of the Indomitus Crusade, distinguishing himself in several notable actions before joining the Dark Angels. Joining his parent chapter was a jarring experience for Marhod. Many Space Marine chapters were suspicious of the Primaris that were forced on them, but the Dark Angels went much further, and all but discriminated against their new recruits.
Marhod, however, was such a gifted, natural born leader and talented strategist that he was able to succeed despite this. After the death of his squad’s sergeant, Marhod took functional command of the remaining squad members, and led them far beyond the simple mission parameters of scouting to sabotage an enemy artillery placement. The action almost singlehandedly changed a planetary campaign and helped to win the war in a matter of weeks instead of months. The effort earned him a promotion to Sergeant. Marhod’s subsequent promotions and honors have been similar: accidents of circumstance combined with Marhod’s own talent that produced results so successful it left Chapter leadership with fewer options to stymie his progression as they did with other Primaris Marines through the chapter’s official hierarchy, to say nothing of the unofficial hierarchy.
Marhod, for his part, has done immeasurable good to his own cause in that he dedicates himself to his mission and his duties, rather than making an active effort to seek further promotion. More than that, his easy, friendly style of command earned him the respect his men, even the non-primaris Marines under his command.
There are rumors that Marhod now actually has a real chance to be one of the first Primaris Marines to become Company Master, not that he’s banking on it, of course. Marhod knows that the chapter is slow to trust the Primaris marines but is starting to suspect that the reasons might run deeper than a simple slowness to adapt to a new reality. And he’s starting to resent being kept in the dark.
* To those not steeped in the Dark Angels lore and lingo (which is to say all of you), Greenwing is the unofficial name of the rest of the Dark Angels who aren’t part of the Deathwing or Ravenwing. You’ll never guess what color they’re painted.
* Master is a snooty Dark Angel way of saying “Captain”
Dark Angels 2nd Company (Ravenwing)
The 2nd company’s numbers on Vigilus are not officially known to the rest of the Imperial war effort, but the true answer is clear to anyone tracking the matter closely: the Ravenwing have deployed in significant force to the planet.
While much of the company’s force has been tasked to some sort of clandestine duty that keeps near the Vhulian Swirl, there are several task forces and support groups acting in support of the Chapter’s forces across the planet.
Duriel, a Talonmaster of the Ravenwing, is the second company’s equivalent of a Lieutenant. Duriel has been a Dark Angel for long enough to recognize that the Chapter’s true agenda may not always match the mission he’s been briefed on, even if he still isn’t quite sure what that agenda may be. He’s also been a Dark Angel for long enough to recognize that the presence of 4 companies of Greenwing and at least 4 companies of successor chapters is a tell. Especially given that those numbers don’t include the significant deployment of Ravenwing and Deathwing to the theater. Something, in short, is up, even if he doesn’t know what it is.
Duriel, for his part, is trying to concern himself with a more pressing concern: leading a task force that he feels is sometimes only nominally under his command.
Above him: While the company’s Librarium and Chaplaincy are not able to assert full battlefield command, that doesn’t stop them from questioning his orders at the strangest of times, especially the chaplains. It is only his long friendship with Librarian Zagan that helps to keep any sort of peace with Interrogator-Chaplain [xxxx].
Beneath him: Technically under Duriel’s command are several Black Knights, the finest and most skilled of the Ravenwing. Every single one of these men outranks Duriel, and everyone else in the task force. Duriel symbolically offers Huntmaster* Urdac his sword and command of the mission before every deployment, as a gesture of deference and respect. While Duriel is now accustomed to the idea that Urdac will always politely refuse, he will never be accustomed to giving orders to a man who has lived centuries longer and outranks him to boot. Duriel, of course, also considers himself lucky that Urdac doesn’t really need much ordering around to begin with, knowing exactly how to conduct himself in battle independent of command.
To the side of him: The latter two groups were realities that took many years to adjust to, not that he’s finished doing that. But in the last few centuries, yet another wrinkle developed – the Primaris Marines.
While many in the chapter greeted the new marines with barely contained hostility, Duriel had no use for such provincial isolationist thinking, not that he was anywhere near The Rock when Guilliman appeared with the not-so-subtle mandatory reinforcements Primaris Marines. Duriel was serving his tour in the Deathwatch when Guilliman was resurrected and the Primaris marines were deployed. Duriel had never fully taken to his chapter’s penchant for silent suspicion. He sometimes wonders if that had something to do with why he was seconded to the Deathwatch in the first place, where any remaining skepticism about outsiders was quickly forgotten in the face of such an enormous threat to the Imperium. Duriel served on several Kill Teams alongside Marines from every chapter. He fought with them, befriended them, and watched some of them die. Already deployed, roughly, to the Ghoul Stars (for while they were technically based at a fort to the galactic east of Castilos Nullifact, they like every other Deathwatch mission, moved with their prey as necessary), Duriel was already so close to the edge of the Imperium that he felt that were functionally cut off from much of humanity. After the appearance of the Great Rift, he realized what a fool he’d been. While the Deathwatch was capable of functioning for years at a time in the field without steady supplies or reinforcements, the massive surge in xeno activity quickly stretched them to their limits. One of Primarch Guilliman’s first acts after he was resurrected was to sign the Ultimaris Decree, which bound every newly founded Primaris chapter to the tithe of the Deathwatch in perpetuity, and also seconded several chapters’ worth of Primaris, along with all of their supporting material, to the Deathwatch for immediate deployment. Watch Captain Kaziel, like virtually every commander in the Deathwatch, greeted the reinforcements with gratitude rather than suspicion.
The Deathwatch was already accustomed to integrating space marines from every chapter with a range of combat styles into their kill teams. They were also accustomed to accepting Blackshields, Astartes who had severed all bonds with their former Chapter, purposely obscured his Chapter's heraldry, and petitioned a Watch Commander for admittance to the Deathwatch in order to redeem themselves in whatever way they felt necessary through service to the Deathwatch. There was no hesitation, then, to accept the Primaris because they were a different sort of Astartes. The only hesitation anyone had was because these marines were new and untested in a force typically comprised of the best and most experienced veterans. The only question was whether or not they could keep up. Not only did the Primaris quickly prove that they could keep pace with the Deathwatch, they even helped to develop new styles of mixed Kill Teams that fully utilized their talents. Duriel had even served on some of the earliest efforts at Kill Teams that mixed Primaris and traditional Astartes, and had learned a great deal from fighting alongside them.
And so when Duriel returned home to The Rock some time before the end of the Indomitus crusade, he found the Chapter’s near-hostile treatment of the Primaris Astartes to be extremely jarring.
And then, of course, he met Marhod. While Duriel was not a prideful man, he still recognized his own ability. He had some talent for command and strategy. Marhod, however, gave him pause. He had served alongside him in many theaters, and watched him successfully lead despite what seemed like almost deliberate efforts by the chapter to hamstring him. Marhod was younger, and less experienced. But Duriel sometimes wondered if Marhod was not, in fact, maybe just a little bit better than him. And now, on Vigilus, Duriel’s question was being put to an awkward test. His first mission in command on the planet against the Deathguard had been such a disaster that he was sure Marhod must be at last asking what Duriel had: Was the Talonmaster truly the one who should be in command here?
Adjacent to him: Duriel had spent several decades of his service in the Deathwatch as part of Kill Team Borroleth. While the fellow Dark Angel had showed him no favoritism, he was unafraid to use Duriel (and his bike) as a near-constant outrider, ranging far from the team’s core to scout and collect intelligence. Sometimes alone, but often in the company of a few other mounted Astartes. Especially the White Scars. Duriel would never voice it aloud, but the Deathwatch had disabused him of the notion that the Ravenwing were peerless in the use of hit and run tactics amongst the Astartes. The sons of the Khan weren’t even necessarily peers. Duriel recognized them for what they were: their betters.
Only four times in his decades with the Deathwatch did Duriel experience the unusual occasion of being deployed in a Kill Team comprised entirely of Dark Angels and other battle-brothers from successor chapters. And only four times did he hear Borroleth quickly cut off his confused questions, telling him to follow his orders without protest. Four times did Borroleth, along with Quohad, a Deathwing Terminator, personally execute the Deathwatch’s Decapitation Doctrine on their target before the rest of the team could arrive. Quohad was never once present when they arrived. Nor, strangely, was the body of their target. “Taken for full autopsy,” Borroleth would explain, curtly, his tone clearly inviting no further exploration.
These occasions aside, Borroleth and Duriel got along well. So it was more than a little surprising to Duriel when he learned that not only had Borroleth deployed on Vigilus, but that he had done so without contacting Duriel to tell him. Not as surprising, of course, as meeting the rest of Borroleth’s kill team. Two Dark Angels, one Angel of Redemption, three Consecrators, a Disciple of Caliban, and even a Guardian of the Covenant.
Wordlessly, Duriel observed the team’s makeup, and looked back to Borroleth. He chose his next words carefully, still trying to make his point clear. “You are very far from the Ghoul Stars, Watch Sergeant.”
“The mission’s parameters have broadened considerably.”
He paused, looking aside.
“New orders,” he said, tapping his helmet to indicate vox contact.
“Orders?” Duriel asked. “You’re not operating alone?”
“I told you. The parameters have broadened,” he responded, as if this somehow explained anything.
“But…Kaziel? Kaziel is here, too?”
Borroleth stared for several seconds.
“Duriel…who else would I be getting orders from?” He and his team turned and started walking towards their waiting Blackstar, engines no longer idle.
Other figures of note:
Librarian Zagan Possible appearance by an Interrogator Chaplain, maybe Deathwing, probably
My concept is to try to explore some of the Primaris tension that’s specific to the Dark Angels. I think that Duriel, as someone who is actually very sympathetic to them, is a more interesting way to get at this than through someone who actually truly knows what’s going on. He knows a little, being Ravenwing, but not enough to have the full picture. He's also, per usual, constrained by the bizarre demands of his chapter's leadership.
I’ve also integrated the concept that I built my Deathwatch Kill Team around from the campaign last year. Namely, that the Deathwatch would serve several purposes for the DA, (who are confirmed in the lore to meet their regular tithe, something that not even chapters very loyal to their Deathwatch bonds are always able to meet):
1. The Deathwatch, already a black ops apparatus that both gathers and receives a great deal of intelligence, would be an excellent place for Dark Angels to embed themselves in order to expand their hunt for the Fallen. 2. The Deathwatch would be a fantastic place to send Primaris and other talented Astartes instead of promoting them. 3. The Deathwatch would actually make it much easier for the Dark Angels to act like the legion that they already are.
I expanded on this idea as part of a different campaign that I’m doing. While Borroleth is very much into all of the above, Watch Captain Kaziel is actually pretty disgusted by some of the things the Dark Angels have asked him to do at the expense of broader Deathwatch goals. He’s actually starting to quietly rebel so that he can fully dedicate himself to the mission of the Deathwatch, where’s he’s been for so long that he considers it important than looking for Fallen. We haven’t met Kaziel yet (and we might not), but I have some ideas to integrate the tension between him and the chapter even if he doesn’t show up in a game. So, yes, full Dark Angel inception - he's so loyal that he's willing to betray people, etc.

Army Name:
Spinewrencha'z Ladz, aka WAAAGH!! Spinewrencha
History:
Spawned during WAAAGH!! Zanzag before the Assault on Black Reach, Spinewrencha was born with an insatiable greed matched only by an obsession with luck. It naturally didn't take long for him to join the Deathskull Clan, the young boy becoming a loota during the months-long campaign against the Ultramarines in the southeast corner of the galaxy. Through a mixture of brutality and a healthy praising of Gork, Spinewrencha fought and survived well assaulting the hive worlds of the Imperium, eventually growing into a Nob in his own right. By the time Zanzag was slain by Cato Sicarius and his WAAAGH!! broken, Spinewrencha had grown strong enough to "coerce" a large number of boyz to flee with him into the Maccrage System and start a war band all his own.
For years, Spinewrencha'z Ladz would wage a series of raids and skirmishes into Ultramarine territory, looting and setting down roots wherever they could to gain strength and numbers. Ever more boyz and nobz began flocking to his side, but it would be the culmination of three events that would set the Ork Warboss to truly strike out into the galaxy.
The first would be his largest battle against the Ultramarines to date, a meat grinder of a conflict that ended with a near-dead Spinewrencha tearing apart an Ultramarine dreadnought with his bare hands, climbing inside just in time to shield himself from the exploding drop pod that the dread had arrived on. By the campaign's end, his war band's numbers had swelled to planet crushing size, strong enough to fight and destroy the so-called beakies on even ground, and Spinewrencha had grown in size enough to prove that he was truly worthy of the title of "Warlord."
The second was his meeting with the ork that would become his greatest ally and confidant, a fellow Deathskull Big Mek named Fizzit, who had been leading his own mechanized warband across the sector. With Spinewrencha'z numbers and Fizzit's mekanikal expertise, they combined their forces into a proper WAAAGH!! that could no longer be contained by the Maccrage system.
But it was the third and final event that convinced Spinewrencha the galaxy had far more precious treasures and loot to sate his avarice than the puny 'umies could provide. While attacking an Imperial hiveworld on the edge of system, the two armies' battle inadvertently awoke the Necron tomb world that had laid dormant underneath the planet for millennia. Upon seeing the fantastically lethal capabilities of their gauss weaponry, the warboss immediately fell in love with their technology, and made it his highest priority to go down into the tomb world and loot the metalliks for all they were worth.
Although their power was devastating, the still-awakening necrons lacked the pure brute force of numbers that Spinewrencha brought to bear, and many awoke from their stasis just long enough to see an ork choppa brought down on their heads. In the end, although their phasing technology prevented Spinewrencha from looting a full WAAAGH's worth of Necron gubbins, the warboss had still gathered enough to be incurably hungry for more to add to his collection. It was here that Spinewrencha had an epiphany: For decades he had only concerned himself with the fighting and looting of puny 'umies, not knowing there had been an alternative. Now that he knew there was another race's worth of loot out there, that meant there had to be more.
Spinewrencha and Fizzit quickly got to work building a Space Hulk capable of carrying his boyz into the greater galaxy, determined to claim it for his own. Over the next century, Spinewrencha'z ladz would make their way up through the right arm of the galaxy, first encountering Tyranids, then Tau, then Blood Angels, Space Wolves, Eldar, and more. All the while, Spinewrencha has gained ever more power over multiple victories and defeats, great and small, each advancement and setback another stepping stone for the next great looting.
It is here, after making his way through the entire Ultima Segmentum and then some, that The Ork Warlord has heard tell of a great scrap on the planet Vigilus. Setting the sights of his Space Hulk, the Luck o' Gork on the planet, Spinewrencha has landed his WAAAGH, eager to grab all that he surveys. 'Umies? Cults? Spikey Boyz? All of them inconsequential, their sweet treasures are all that will remain.
Orks of note:
Spinewrencha: Warboss. Leader of the WAAAGH, driven by greed and bloodlust, Spinewrencha firmly believes that anything worth having is worth having more of. As such, he will rarely, if ever bring less than two of the same thing into battle, his firm belief in his numerical might overjoying Gork to bring him ever more victory and loot. His trademark weapon is his power klaw Gork's Fingah, which has been jury rigged with a necron heavy gauss blaster, bolstered by the WAAAGH into an incredibly destructive rokkit launcha.
Fizzit: Big Mek. Spinewrencha'z most trusted adviser and overseer of the WAAAGH's mekanikal exploits, Fizzit is at most times remarkably calm for an ork, only caring about seeing the fruits of his labors in action, be it looted dread, gorkanut, stompa, or his always equipped kustom force field. In this way he acts as an ever present foil to Spinewrencha's hot blooded passion, bringing a deadly brutal kunnin' to the warboss's kunning' brutality
Headlobba: Weirdboy. Spinewrencha'z first and strongest warphead, Headlobba is frequently excitable, often devolving into jabbering fits in battle as the power of the WAAAGH!! courses through his veins. powerful enough to teleport hundreds of boyz great distances at once, Headlobba's very presence whips the orks around him into a zealous frenzy. When not in battle, he can usually be found reinforcing his namesake by throwing the severed heads of those he kills at random passersby, which he considers a great laugh.
Skullbitz: Weirdboy. Spinewrencha'z second weirdboy, generally more sane than Headlobba, but considerably more twitchy, Skullbitz is relatively cowardly for an ork, often sticking close to either Spinewrencha or his minder Googrin for protection. To ensure this, he uses his psyker abilities to make them stronger in battle. Being away from either of them for too long makes him incredibly anxious and easily startled, enough that he will reflexively smite anyone who reportedly "sneaks up on him."
Googrin: Painboy. Spinewrencha'z Head Dok and minder of Headlobba and Skullbitz. Googrin is incredibly ambitious, always eager to try some new experimental procedure on any boy or grot unfortunate enough to visit his organ shop. He has a wide competitive streak, always seeking to break his personal record of how fast he can reassemble a still living ork. This often coincides with his drive to break his record of how fast he can disassemble a still living ork. Googrin's ambitions go beyond his personal skills however. Indeed, he is perhaps the only ork in Spinewrencha'z elite retinue to talk behind his back, frequently trying to convince others that he could be a far greater warboss than Spinewrencha given the chance. Spinewrencha inevitably hears of this, prompting Googrin's last personal record of how fast he can reassemble himself.
Klung: Banner Nob. Spinewrencha's "Head Nob," which often translates to "Nob that gets stuck with the most menial jobs." Long suffering and frequently bored, Klung longs for the moments where he gets to stop just telling boyz what to do and give something a proper smack himself, if he doesn't torch them with a skorcha first. . As such, is often remarkably effective in the rare moments he gets to prove himself in battle, which only enforces Spinewrencha'z approval that the Head Nob is best at telling boyz "how to give a proper krumpin'." Klung is not appreciative of this mindset, but time and again proves himself worthy of the job.
((Possibly more to come later))

Blood Angels Host Serra Part of the reformed 5th Company
Brief History This is a portion of the 5th company of blood angels which had been sent away prior to the decimation of Baal to reinforce Cadia. As such, they face the dual burden of having watched Cadia fall at the hands of the Black Legion and not having been at Baal for the invasion. This absence is something which they deeply resent, as they feel that they should have been at home protecting the birthplace of their legion. This contrasts with their intercessors which were part of the liberation force to Baal, so they did fight for their geneseed home planet. This has created an uncommon bond between the brothers in this host of angels. They now come to vigilus as a vanguard force as commanded by Dante. While they would have come proudly at their commander's request, the prospect that they may now face the Black Legion again has many amongst the angels drinking in the red thirst and some falling to the black rage. The thought that they may face the bastard sons of Horus drives their battle fury as they eagerly await them.
Overall Command. Relatively shared between Captain Gerrard, Librarian Barrin, and Chaplain Crovax. Although Crovax is more interested in internal matters. Crovax is more concerned about the future of the chapter and gene-seed. Gerrard manages overall missions, young captain only recently promoted after the death of the previous captain in the battles around Cadia. Barrin does more oversight and mentorship, has a longer scope of the chapter and it’s honor.
Captain Gerrard Benali Newly appointed to Captain the 5th Warlord
Vice- Captain Aryel Windgrace (Counts as Captain) Has the relic the Angels Wing Graceful fighter who has frequent visions of death and is quick to anger.
Lieutenant Keld Young up and comer
Chaplain Crovax “The Falling Angel” Intermittent Death Visions of Sanguinius Feel strongly that he is the warden of the host’s soul Venerates the death company he cares for. See’s it as the final gift of sanguinius. He has mixed feelings on the primaris not falling to the black rage. He does not wish that madness on anyone, but fears that it means the primaris are either incomplete or worse yet, that the original brothers are incomplete. He is also concerned that the black rage is safety valve for the red thirst which the primaris drink so heavily from.
Librarian Dreadnought Barrin of Toleria Hold deep and forbidden knowledge. Other librarians recognize him as a library. He refused to pass down everything he knew, but refused to trust anyone else to hold them all. So he interned himself to preserve the knowledge without endangering any other brother.
Predator Baal’s Legacy
Primaris Squad Kahmal Invictus/ Baal/ Invictus
Primaris Squad Arvad Invictus/Baal
Tactical Squad Ramos Made of remnants from the different tactical squads which were decimated in the fight with the arch traitor.
P.S: I enjoy Magic the Gathering Lore a lot and a significant amount of names and themes for this force are lifted from older MTG characters.

Hunter Cadre: Mont’yr
Notable Memebers:
Fire Blade Ghoro’Kha : To call Ghoro’Kha old fashioned would be an understatement. Hailing from an Ancient Fire Warrior bloodline He has rejected the notion of a Commander wearing a Battlesuit as all of his fathers have and continues to lead from the front lines with his Fire Warrior brethren. His defection from the Tau Empire was complete upon his arrival to the Enclaves on the ship Vision of Aun’Shi led by Commander Torchstar who informed Farsight that old friends and sympathizers still remain among the Septs who arranged for the ship's course to be altered before launch. Secreted away in the cargo was a sizable collection of some of the T'au's newest, untested technological prototypes, including several XV104 Riptide Battlesuits and the blueprints and schematics for much more. Although he now fights for the enclaves he is staunch believer in the Taus classical tactics of war and readily applies them on the battlefield.
Shar O’kais : Known as the Red Comet among his peers Commander Shar pilots a XV86 Coldstar Battlesuit. Since childhood he has idolized The Eight. Every move and decision he makes is to bring him one step closer to joining their ranks. With a full set of Fusion Blasters he’s hard to miss on the battlefield. Frequently breaking the line and operating in the enemy's backfield The roar of the Red Comet is a common death knell to enemy armor.
Tro’wa : Pilot of a XV88 Broadside Battlesuit Tro’wa frequently switches between his High Yield Missile Pods and His Rail Rifle, an uncommon tactic among other XV88 pilots.
Ta’sh : Pilot of one of the newly received Riptides Ta’sh Is the heart of the Monty’r Cadres fire line. Although his suit maybe be large he only stands at 5’0 and has recently gained the nickname of Big’Boi among the Gue’la auxiliaries.
Shin’O : (KIA) Was a new member of the Cadre, a Sa’cea defector Shin’O who tended to stay to himself on and off the battlefield. Although he was rarely seen his XV95 Ghostkeel was always felt. His death for the greater good will not be soon forgotten...
Vigilus: After word of a WAAGH on Vigilus had reached the Enclaves, Commander Farsight had gained interest in the system. This particular WAAAGH sounded especially sweet. Much like on Arkunasha, the Orks had resorted to speed WAAGHS to pass time. Ripping across the barren waste of Vigilus. The similarities were too much to bare for the Commander. Memories of Arkunashas Oxide desert filled his mind. All the work he had done all the warriors lost only to have the Ethereal Caste call off the defense when they were so close to victory. All those men for nothing, the waste of Tau lives. Of all the wrongs that drove Farsight to leave the empire that sole decision may have been the biggest. If there is any connection between this WAAGH and the one from all those years ago it was an opportunity Farsight could not pass up. Before Committing his full force he had decided to dispatch one of his most Elite Hunter Cadres, Mont’yr. Named after Puretides Battle Dome back on Tau they have been ordered to Secure a drop zone and provide info on this WAAGH. The deployment of more enclave forces is contingent on the Intel provided in the next coming days.

I am working on my battle report /lore and I am writing that detecting the arrival of the Tau in the system, Strike Force Serra attempted to disrupt the building of that foothold on vigilus as we attacked while you were sending down your resources to build that drop zone. While we were able to destroy some of the resources as they were being airdropped down, you were certainly able to establish your foothold.

The Slaughterkin
Motto: "From shadow and shame recast!" "We are returned!" "I feel the warp overtaking me!"
Background: This branch of the Slaughterkin has had a journeyman career to the side of the Despoiler. They were originally the Sons of Rapacious Slaughter, an Emperor's Children warband led by the Demon Prince Daeragon the Demolisher. His lieutenants were Bolgus the Inciter, Exalted Champion, and Varnak, an aspiring champion. They were his highest advisors, even though he often ignored their words. Daeragon drove the warband in to conflict after conflict, looking to kill and torture as many as possible for the Prince of Pleasure. Bolgus and Varnak were less exuberant. Their estimates of supplies painted a gloomy picture for the warband. A series of colossal defeats at the hands of Warboss Spinewrencha had depleted their men and supplies. A lightning raid by a Blood Angels force underlined their estimates: they could not continue for long. Despite this, Daeragon commanded that they continue. He claimed that Slaanesh would award them for their devotion. So the lone battle barge wandered through the void, low on fuel and even lower on ammunition.
Shortly after the opening of the Great Rift, their Battle Barge found themselves intercepted by none other than the 13th Black Crusade, the Vengeful Spirit amongst them. Knowing the long history between the Emperor's Children and the Black Legion, they slowed their engines and prayed to Slaanesh the fleet would pass without incident. The advisors saw their opportunity. Bolgus and Varnak hailed the fleet with an offer, slaves for ammo and fuel. The demon prince approved of the transaction. They were given clearance to board the nearest vessel for the hand off. Upon docking, Daeragon began haggling with the Black Legion attendants while the two mortal champions left for the bridge of the Black Legion vessel. They took a knee before the commanding chaos lord and pledged their vessel and warband to the warmaster's cause and the Long War. After a brief notification to the Vengeful Spirit, they were welcomed into the Black Legion's numbers without Daeragon's knowing. The demon prince's wrath was immense. He saw this not only as mutiny by his mortal advisors, not only as a theft of his spoils, but a betrayal to Slaneesh and Fulgrim. He also knew the ramifications if he openly attacked said former advisors aboard a black legion warship. Snarling his disapproval, he promised his vengeance upon the both of them.
Varnak was promoted to Chaos Lord of the Sons of Rapacious Slaughter, a move that further inflamed Daeragon. Varnak's first action as a black legionnaire was to pacify a group of Cadians moving to reinforce the shattered system around broken Cadia. He failed disastrously, the battle ending in a complete rout except for the Chaos Lord himself. He was quickly removed from command and sent for punishment aboard the Vengeful Spirit itself. The Sons of Rapacious Slaughter were dissolved. Their assets, men, and weapons were adopted by the Slaughterkin and their new lord and master, Skyrak Slaughterborn, Chosen of the Despoiler. Since then, the Slaughterkin have seen action facing many loyalist forces, Eldar, Tau, and even a rematch against Daeragon's old foe, Warboss Spinewrencha, though the demon prince thirsts to face the greenskin's forces in full once again. They were even granted the honor of fighting alongside the warmaster on several occasions.
The Slaaneshi roots of the warband have faded as more diverse elements of chaos have reinforced them. Elements from the Sons of the Cyclops have been recruited as body guards for the warband's high command. A pair of renegade knights have been gifted to them. Droves of Chaos Spawn and Possessed, newly claimed from planets that fell within the Great Rift, are kept in pens. Skyrak Slaughterborn has now begun to bring elements of his home warband, the Bringers of Decay, into the elements of the Slaughterkin. After its participation in the War of Nightmares on Vigilus, their ranks of demonkin swelled, led by sinister prophets and masters of warp magic. The War Council of the Slaugherkin is the ruling authority, emulating the Mournival of the long-dead Sons of Horus. Led by Skyrak Slaughterborn, the rest of the council consists of Daeragon, Bolgus, Zylas, Corsis, and Varroz. They are a vision of the Warmaster's will: all the colors of chaos brought to heel under the will of the Heretic Astartes. Their goal above all: the prosecution of the Long War to its ultimate end.
------------------ Inspiration: My brother initially started a chaos army when we were kids. I came back to 40k years later and he did not. However, he wanted me to build a chaos army in his stead. I have always found the Chaos Space Marines to be more interesting than those boot-licking loyalist dogs loyal Space Marines, so it was an easy decision to join the chaos party. Initially tried an Emperor's Children army (as that is what my brother liked), but I did not have the enthusiasm for them. I swapped over to Black Legion and have not looked back since. I love the Black Legion as they are the biggest, baddest warband out there and one of the few who are still pursuing the Long War rather than blatantly dancing to the whims of the Ruinous Powers even though the chaos gods are definitely guiding and subtly manipulating events for Abbadon and hoping he finally follows in his gene-sire's footsteps.
Notable Characters:
Daeragon the Demolisher- The original commander of the Sons of Rapacious Slaughter and unwilling servant of Skyrak. He still fumes over the loss of his command, but secretly is quite appeased with the spoils and glory service in the Black Legion has granted him. Wielding The Tempting Agony, a demon sword blessed by Fulgrim himself, he rips through the battlefield chanting hymns to the Prince of Pleasure over the din and screeching of war. With his placement as warlord of the Slaughterkin for the Vigilus campaign, he has been granted great boons by Slaneesh and is now a terrifying sight on the field. His feud with Bolgus has grown lesser, but he never misses an opportunity to terrify the mortal, even as Bolgus is poised to rise to a Chaos Lord within the Slaughterkin.
Zylas Soulweaver, Sorceror - A wise sorcerer who spent years on Soritarius, he was recruited by Skyrak to bring his skills to the warband. Donning a jump pack in battle, he flits over the fire granting his gifts where they are needed most. He has quickly earned a reputation warping reality itself to aid their forces in battle. When his grand sorceries are not needed, he has also earned honor with the raw magic of the Warp. Battle after battle, he has shown his dedication to the Long War and has made miracles happen for the traitor forces when they needed him most.
Bolgus the Inciter, Chaos Lord- Newly promoted to Chaos Lord from Exalted Champion, Bolgus is now a figure of inspiration and power among the Slaughterkin. Wielding authority equal to Daeragon, he plunges headlong into combat with a retinue of terminators at his back. Gifted the relic of Ghorisvex's Teeth, he cuts a bloody swathe through the enemies of the warmaster, the blessings of the entire pantheon laid upon him. The Heretic Astartes of the Slaughterkin respect and honor Bolgus above all, a detail that enrages Daeragon. His vigor for the Heretic Astartes he serves with has not lessened with this new authority. His voice can still be heard echoing over the battlefield, driving his warriors forward.
Corsis Omenspeaker, Dark Apostle- A disciple of Bolgus as a Heretic Astartes who found divine inspiration along the Eightfold Path. Far more interested in worship and application of the pantheon than inspiring his men, Corsis is the tuning fork to the chaos gods among the Slaughterkin's war council. Amidst tactical and strategic debate, Corsis interprets the whims of the Ruinous Powers. His voice carries of the battlefield, chanting litanies of hate and despair before their forces crash upon the enemy.
Varroz Hatebound, Master of Possession- A recent addition to the Slaughterkin, Varroz was brought in to oversee the temperamental Chaos Spawn and Possessed among the Slaughterkin's forces. Bolgus once acted as the ad-hoc shepherd for this flock, uncertainly guiding their wrath, butunable to utilize the Neverborn and Warp gifts within. Varroz arrived and promised he could draw more power from them. The Master of Possession has thrived with these foul beasts where Bolgus only held his ground. His black magic and soothing words ease the tortured minds for a time until they can be let loose upon the enemy. In that moment of blood and rage, he utilizes his sorcerous powers to embolden them to further greatness. Striking with unholy power, wreathed in protective warp energies, or guiding their mutations to efficient use, Varroz is the true Shepherd of the Neverborn.
Malchus, Fallen Attache- In the wake of the War of Nightmares, a mysterious and hated new member of the Slaughterkin appeared. He was brought in by Skyrak himself. The chaos lord's only explanation being that the Despoiler's deal with the Fallen necessitated it. Donning corrupted sigils of the Dark Angels and carrying a grand blade emblazoned with "Wrath of Caliban", Malchus is a member of the Fallen who now operates alongside the other members of the War Council. He carries the authority of a chaos lord, but is explicitly inferior to both Daeragon and Bolgus. Malchus has said little of himself or his mission, sits in on War Council meetings, yet is not allowed to weigh on decisions. The individual has gathered a great deal of hatred from the other members of the Slaughterkin. He is seen as unnecessary at best and a spy at worst. Daeragon's hatred of Malchus exceeds even that of Bolgus, somewhat cooling the rivalry between the Chaos Lord and him. Some heretic astartes, like Zylas, are reserving their opinion of him. They seem to be waiting to witness his merit in battle before sharpening their knives. Malchus has remained unfazed to the bias of the rest of the warband, seemingly driven entirely by his mission. Aware of his unconventional attendance, he knowingly annoys his detractors while contributing vital intelligence to Skyrak Slaughterborn. What Malchus's purpose is with the Slaughterkin, he seems to be attached to the warband for the long haul.

Army Name: Task Force Gold Inferno (Subject to change)
Motto: “Pride kindles our vengeance!”
History: Formed and dispatched during the 13th Black Crusade under the leadership of a seasoned sorcerer and tactician under the nickname “Brisket” for lack of an actual name, they were a massive failure of a team, and after multiple tactical failures were reassigned to sit on the sidelines of the Cadian Sector, going around to already conquered planets, and cleaning up after the bulk of the Black Legion forces. After Cadia’s fall, and the retreat of the bulk of Chaos forces, they prided themselves on being part of such an event and glorified both the Warmaster and themselves. But, after Abbadon’s trusted commanders were notified of some taskforces lacking in disciplines and not achieving desired results, they were addressed by a livid Haarken Worldclaimer, who was approaching Vigilus. At the time, they caught the attention of a well respected and especially cruel sorcerer by name of Aurelius the Malicious, who personally seeked an audition with Abbadon’s herald, Haarken, and pleaded for a second chance for the team, saying that with a core reformation and many hours of tactical training, they still had the potential to bring chaos and destruction to the Imperium. Haarken listened, and with half the team replaced by new, eager recruits, they were dispatched towards the Vigilus System.
As they arrived, they were promptly met by a resistance of Adeptus Mechanicus troops, and had to think quickly to not be overwhelmed by the wave of Skitarii troops. Aurelius, assisted by his then right-hand man Lunair Bann’ael, a Khorne berserker with a peculiar mutation that gave him an abnormally excessive amount of limbs, and an aspiring sorcerer by name of Davis, hatched a devious plan to bring the Mechanicus down, and they appeared to be retreating. However, they left a small group of cultists to infiltrate the ranks of Tech-adepts and plant the seeds of heresy. Before long, a Mechanicus Killteam under codename “Golden Fleece” gave way to a mutiny and betrayal that left the Imperial forces weakened and gave the heretic forces a chance to attack. The battle that ensued left the planet scorching in the brightest fires the heretics have ever seen, and in a moment of epiphany, Aurelius proclaimed “We shall now and forever be named The Gold Inferno! Bringers of death to the false Imperium!”
Inspiration: Me being very new to the hobby, I wanted that to reflect in the inexperience of my army. They are very proud, but cannot prove themselves to actually be worthy on the battlefield. I also just really liked the idea of a mess of cultists and marines flailing about while a sorcerer facepalms in the background.
Notable Heroes:
Aurelius, the Malicious - A terminator sorcerer. Originally from the Alpha Legion, he switched sides during the end of the Horus Heresy, when he chose to channel the powers of the warp for a full assault instead of retreating into the shadows with his cowardly brothers. Became a sorcerer in the Black Legion and quickly ascended through the ranks. Is maybe still Alpharius.
Davis (the name is definitely subject to change) - Sorcerer with Jump Pack. Met Aurelius on the battlefield, where he saved Davis from being stepped on by a dreadnought. Davis pledged his life to help Aurelius from that point on and dedicated his life to sorcery, taught by Aurelius himself. Picked up a jump pack during the Thirteenth Crusade, has cherished it since. Hates his name, wants to change it.
Samson, the Livid - A hellbrute. Previously a Khornate berserker, he was mortally wounded during the Slave Wars in the warp and put into a living suit of armor against his will. His anger drove him to insanity, and he is now kept locked in the hull of Aurelius’s spaceship only to be released onto the battlefield when needed.
