Here are the week 1 match-ups
Featured games will have special rules, other matchups will be playing a game of your choice. Organize with your opponent a time and a place to complete your game before next Friday, 1/18. If circumstances arise that you cannot complete the game let me know.
For each game, record the following: 1) victor and total victory points from both sides. 2) Play of the game: All players in a match should also nominate 1 play of the game. Think of an epic moment were you had a lone sergeant capture a point from the enemy, or a heavy weapon specialist roll double 6 for damage vs a vehicle (things like that). 3) Narrative write up (optional): Feel free to craft a story and write a short narrative that highlights your battle.

The ork waaaaagh has risen to dangerous levels on the outskirts of the massive hivesprawl city of Oteck. The Mechanicus shield systems have been holding the Orks at bay, but dwindling reinforcements have made the shield generators vulnerable to attack. The only hope of the local garrison is to repair the communications array and send out the call for imperial reinforcements. The Cadian Haymakers have arrived in time, but will it be enough to stem the green tide?
Game: 2000 pts Orks vs 1500 pts Imp Guard
Ork victory condition: total annihilation of the guard forces. The warboss must declare his might bye obliterating his foes.
Imp guard victory condition: survive until the communications array can be repaired. At the end of turn 5, if you have a unit within 6" of the array, roll a D6. On an 5 or 6 the array is repaired. Add one to this die roll for each subsequent attempt. Only one repair may be attempted each turn, and CP cannot be spent to reroll the die. (Turn 5 needs a 5+, turn 6 needs a 4+, turn 7 needs a 3+.
Deployment: use the Blitz map setup from p.202 of the core rule book. Choose a piece of terrain to be the communications array and place it wholly within the defenders second line deployment zone.

I'm thinking *edit* Thursday Wednesday (I'm dumb) is the only day that could work for me and I will let you make the call on game size. I'm good up to 2,000, provided you don't mind me bringing Mortarion. Otherwise I can probably run in the 1,500 range or so.

Otherwise I can probably run in the 1,500 range or so. I'm fine with either 1,500 or 2,000. I'm 99% sure we aren't allowed to have named characters in the campaign, though. Phoning GM for verification ocotako7I'm happy to fight Morty in a regular game sometime soon, though, as I'm sure you'd like to try him out.

I'm pretty sure you're right about the named characters. Let me see what I can throw together when I get home and I will let you know. *edit* It also occurs to me that Wednesday would be the day I could make it, not Thursday. I should actually pay attention to my schedule.

Things will have to escalate before the big dawgs decide to enter the battle. Do feel free to keep track of your warlords as well as unit XP as per the CA 2018 narrative section.

Orks vs Imperial Guard is finished! Josh will write the report up and I will be posting pictures later today of the battle with captions.
The Orks successfully tabeled the Guard before they could activate the beacon, the game went to T6.
The Guard and Cult achieved their secondary objectives. The Orks did not achieve their secondary objective (though they did lots of Krumpin, they dont wanna leave a good fight).
