Anybody built there's yet? Any thoughts? I'm thinking of picking some up.
So both the mechanicus and imperialis terrain has looked beautiful, but they seem to share a major flaw: lack of sight-blocking.
Is that true? Are people able to hide entire units behind those walls? From the pictures online, it looks like there are windows everywhere.

I should be getting mine today in the mail, I'll let you know - everything I've heard is that its just outstanding. So configurable and customizable, and it ties in with the sector mechanicus terrain they make as well - the floors are all the same height, have some of the same connecting points, and things like pipes and cables can connect to the various parts of the new terrain to create custom pieces using bits from both.
From a gameplay stand point, 50% of the wall panels have LOS blocking in mind...for infantry models. Each wall sprue is 4 panels, 2 of which are windows floor to ceiling, 2 of which are covered halfway by a vent or decorative bas relief. Its enough to give even primaris marines complete LOS blocking cover, but things like monsters and dreadnoughts will be visible. Of course, you can also get funky and block the windows with popsickle sticks to board them up, or whatever, so I wouldn't let that get to you too much.

Thanks Nick. I know it's high quality, I'm just worried about gameplay.
In my opinion, the most important aspect of terrain this edition is sight-blocking. Otherwise, my games have just devolved into long-range shootouts. I've found it weird that both mechanicus and imperialis terrain have been far more transparent than the old manufactorum, etc.
So i guess I'm asking whether it's still possible to hide infantry behind those pillars, ruins, etc. It's frustrating that none of it can hide a carnifex though.

Yeah its frustrating for sure that there aren't more just straight up walls in their terrain sets; basically the only things they make that block line of sight period are the shipping containers and only when you stack them up lol which is just kind of mind boggling.
I'll take some comparison shots and post em up here. Its out for delivery right now, so should get some pics later tonight once my wife and kid go down for the night.

For what its worth there are some scaling shots on the GW page - So that first metal banding across all the terrain appears to be Primaris height - so about 2" high. Anything larger than a mid-size infantry unit, like a hive tyrant or carnifex, will need some terrain conversion to get LOS blocking though. But things like hive guard, warriors, etc. should be good to go.

Yeah that's what I'm thinking. I mean, who cares, it looks good and its for house games. I'm already using solo cups and books, so anything is an improvement.

I think ITC does that Russell, and people seem to love it.

The ruin set I have is a little more forgiving as it has a lot of closed panels. Of course I didn't build it with Los in mind so probably every way has holes. But I'm a fan of the "plug it with boards on the windows"... Eventually... Train.

Thanks dude, that's super helpful. It's also funny to see all those different models lined up. I didn't realize an overlord was so tall.

Also, is that brown plastic?

Yeah everything in the box is colored plastic - the admech are red plastic, the genestealer cult are this light grey almost blue grey plastic (very space wolf colored), and the terrain is like...khaki basically. Its kinda cool because a non-wargamer can bust this open and put it all together and play it like a board game, while the rest of us sophisticated folk can paint it and cover over it, and everybody wins.
I plan on just spray painting mine with like a 3 tone scheme - brown primer all over, high angle spray with like a mid-brown, then a zenithal dusting of like a bone color, and then I'll do washes and detail work on the metals and floor panels after but it'll get me most of the way there.

Ohhh. I was so confused because the pictures on eBay all looked fake/chinacast.
