As I'm sure some of you have guessed, of course I bought the new wood elf book. And of course I want to bring them to BitS. And of course I don't own a single model yet, let alone have anything painted.
Well, at least in that last regard, they're exactly the same as my Tomb Kings and Lizardmen; hooray for crippling procrastination!
They're extremely fragile, but have a little more punch in them this edition than they have in the past, so while they still rely heavily on controlling the movement phase, they can at least hit back when they get in a fight...though protracted combat is not the way to go (lest you use Life magic or Metal magic to boost survivability).
That being said, here's my first crack at a wood elf list, 2400:
Lords: 479 points
LVL 4, Life Magic, Asrai Bow, Dispell Scroll
Glade Lord, Hail of Doom Arrow, Enchanted Shield, Talisman of Preservation, multi-shot arrows
Heroes: ~462 points (don't have book with me on hand, memory based calculation)
Lvl 1, Shadow Magic, Asrai Bow, channeling staff
Glade Captain, BSB, armor of destiny, shield
Waystalker
Waystalker
Core: 600 points
18 Glade Guard, FC, poison arrows
18 Glade Guard, FC, poison arrows
Special: 550 points
3 Hawk Riders
3 Hawk Riders
5 Wild Riders, banner
5 Wild Riders, banner
Rare: 300 points

Basically, traditional Wood Elf method of march block, charge block, double flee with fast cav/flying fast cav, ambush, scout, etc. to out deploy and kite your opponent around the board while you blow him up with BS4 S3 AP Poisoned arrows, with some fun toys like the Hail of Doom Arrow and WayStalker/WayWatchers for anti-chaff/anti-armor shenanigans respectively.
From anyone who has played them in the past, a lot of the stuff is very similar - so if you're familiar or have read the new book, thoughts?
