The big thing I like about the battle cannon is the d6 shots doing d3 damage each at -2 armour anywhere on the board. That can strip wounds off anything really quickly, and with friendly rolls of the dice can ruin someone's day. It may not have disgustingly resilient, but the daemon invul is better than the hellbrute's lack of any bonus save. Also, and I can't remember because my codex isn't in front of me, but I believe it gets a wound back at the beginning of each turn, and as a 14 or so wound model, it has good staying power. Factor in the autocannon and heavy flamer, and there isn't much it can't do in terms of softening things up for a charge. I like it for it's long range annoyance factor, and backfield protection role. In an army that functions best at mid to close range moving forward the whole time, this adds to it's effectiveness. I think of it as a distraction carnifex.

Hard to argue with any of that, and yes, it does get a wound back.

So GW has apparently stated that they have no release date for the Blight Hauler, but I am ready to get some games in and it is the last thing I am missing. Any ideas what kind of base this thing uses, so I can proxy something for now?

Consider it done, I will be out this week as well. Fingers crossed that Deamon Prince should arrive by this weekend, and DD should have my cultists in. I can have 2k points ready by next week (or whenever the codex drops)

Storm Eagle Gunship or Hellforged Dreadclaw Drop Pod? I need something to drop nastiness on the enemy, since 90% of my army moves 5 inches or less, and most of the normal options are denied to me.

You should hold off. Whole the plague marines and zombies are slow you can always choose one of them be a "character" so they can't be shot at while someone else is ahead of them. Otherwise the dread claw is good but the bird is better. I'll get hell bird if I were too choose.

I’m not grabbing anything immediately, just keeping an eye on the horizon

Ok so game one thoughts (this was a short game)
-The infinite Pox Walker trick works, but is an expensive sink of points and and command points. It will be brutally effective against melee armies but lags a bit against gun lines.
-Plague Marines with a blight hauler are brutally hard to remove from the table without a sizable investment in firepower. Their leadership will likely rarely be an issue.
-Blight Haulers in general are totally worth the points, but it’s a shame you need 3 in a unit to get the +1 BS
-I still need some dedicated artillery, and I am starting to think helbrutes are the answer.

Noooooooooooooooooooooooo! Helbrutes! Nope. Nope. None of that. Sorry had bad experiences with them where I tend to lose them from simple bolted fire...from over watch... At full HP. Call it a bad game but I don't see the point them. They aren't that good. Well to be fair what makes them different in your codex? Any special rules they get?

Inexorable advance allows them to move and shoot at full BS. Basically my thought is to put two in the backfield to guard objectives (something I currently lack) although for the cost plagueburst crawlers might be a better choice. I honestly assume that as of Chapter approved they will also get disgustingly resilient, since their not having it makes literally no sense
(Them being helbrutes)

A couple thoughts after last night another short game): -I probably have too many Blight Haulers. I think you can argue that the benefit they offer marines is negligible (though they do act as a weird psychological distraction carnifex to draw fire). -I need more long range artillery, but a forge world order is en route to help with this -The noxious blightbringer is probably a waste of points in my current build... I don't advance enough units to get use out of him. -Holy Shit, I did not realize Tallyman re-rolls basically everything in the fight phase. -Nurgle Demon prince is an unkillable pimp -DO NOT OVERCHARGE PLASMA. I don't care if you can re-roll 1's. double ones comes up weirdly often. -A caveat to that, Terminators die fast to plasma overcharges and smite, no matter how hardy. Also that auto cannon is kinda weak. -I need to put aside like 200 points in nerglings to tie up enemy artillery. They can be summoned, then move, then charge, which is huge (even if they can't hurt anything) and would have made life way easier yesterday

I personally take my terminators very basic, just guns and axes so they can dump 20 shots up to 18" from deep strike and then be a backfield distraction.
Blightbringer is only useful when using a poxwalker horde. I don't know who else would advance in the army. (I'm thinking of the bell guy, disregard this)
