Its enormous - I'm thinking it could be a cool feature to use in games of AoS or 40k to - use it as a realmgate or objective or something.

Check out the CMON website, there are new unit boxes and a night's watch starter set. It looks like all of the unit boxes are $34.99, which isn't bad at all.

I saw they announced and previewed the free folk sets too - giants are coming!

It's a little disappointing that Free Folk and the Crows are next instead of Baratheons, Tyrells, and/or Dornish, but the Wildling models look pretty cool at least.
Also, when do people want to start playing? I'm itching to kill some Starks.

I'm all for throwing down ASAP, the only question as I see it will be venue. I'm thinking of picking up an Alpha Game Table for my home, and I'm kicking myself for not having bought at least one battlemat as a part of the kickstarter.

I think I'm playing a test game this week, so I'll let you know how it goes

We can play at the Dojo, right? (Though I know it's not the most central location for everyone)

(Though I know it's not the most central location for everyone) I have no objection to the dojo, I just feel icky playing a game at a store where I bought absolutely nothing of the game. If the have expansions I may pick some up so I don’t feel weird, but I also need to pick up some paint, so that’s a good excuse to go!

Yeah, I understand. Though, to be honest, not much of my 40k or 30k stuff has come from the Dojo (I guess eventually they'll stock Sisters), but at least a few things have. Buying some paint, basing material, or Necromunda stuff usually serves to satisfy my sense of obligation to contribute some money to the store.

Should we plan for a day? If we do the first weekend of August I can probably come to the dojo that Saturday or Sunday for games.

So I played a couple test games today. First of all, the game is fun and well made. I never played warhammer fantasy, but it seems pretty similar. General takeaways: 1. Sure theres a decent amount of units in the kickstarter, but there's a crazy amount of characters. They give unique abilities to each unit and create a ton of cool army builds and combos. 2. The tactics cards are also a cool touch. Essentially like strategems. 3. The game has a much greater emphasis on movement and there are massive bonuses for flanking and charging. 4. Morale/panicking is a big deal. I lost more models to failed morale tests than actual combat.
In terms of armies: I was getting wrecked as the lanisters. I'm sure the armies are balanced in the end, but the Starks emphasize movement, which seemed easier to master. I definitely didn't get a good handle of the lanisters combos.

How was the feel in terms of everyone being human and rolling fewer dice (only rolling to hit)? I feel like morale would be a huge deal in the ASOIAF univers as just about everyone is essentially a thug who is only looking for an easy fight. As soon as things get ugly everyone starts switching sides or running away. Essentially an "I'm not dying for this" mechanic.

It was definitely simpler. Combat took way less time. In fact, each turn (Or phase) is shorter than warhammer. The game flows pretty well.
I like how morale works, but I kept getting screwed by it. Lanisters have fairly low morale and being flanked diminishes it. I basically lost a unit of horsemen because Grey Wind bit them in the ass and then they all ran away.
I really like the game, i just suck at it.
