On the first page of rules, it states that all distances are measured base to base and can be checked at any time. So to me that would suggest that all aura abilities, weapon ranges, charge ranges, etc. are measured base to base - not model to model. And likewise unfortunately for combat in a ruin with a monster, despite how nonsensical that may sound.
Until FAQd, I think my wobbly model syndrome explanation falls flat upon further reading, since a monster can't end its move on a 2nd level of a ruin regardless, and therefore the whole "wobbly model" instance never comes into play. Though I am willing to bet dollars to donuts that GW didn't mean for infantry in a ruin to be immune from charges by monsters.

Yeah i know. I think i was just thinking of line of sight, since that is to any part of the model that is over the base. I had only played 4-5 games of 8th before this weekend. I just got so screwed by those ruins that game. Now that i understand, i would have deployed differently.

Eric,
Yeah don't worry about asking, especially in tournaments, and the more games you'll play the more you start to remember the rules for them. As you said you barely had a chance to play 8th. Just keep getting practice games in and next tourney you play you'll do a lot better (thumbs up)
