Are the genestealers coming from the trygons? Cause a 9" charge is pretty unlikely, since you cant give them glands. I like when you packed the hormis cause they at least only need 8" and are somewhat cheaper.

Yeah I know the 9" isn't all that likely without glands, but they're so much more deadly if they do get in, I feel like the trade off is worth it. Or I can do hormagaunts instead, and take the genestealers in the Supreme Command detachment with the GSC stuff to get them Ambush, but then I'm lacking cheapo troops to ob-sec objectives. But I guess you can't have everything!

I think the strategems may make these decisions easier. Maybe there will be something that affects charges or deepstriking.
Trygons are so good though so most options work unless you pack it with rippers.

Speaking of Rippers, with Obsec coming back what are thoughts on these? They rely less on model-count and more on hiding on obscure, hard-to-reach objectives... but may be worth tossing a couple units in to DS mid-game into corner objectives?

The fact that cover works much differently this time around makes rippers great imho - they can completely hide in a ruin and prevent anyone from even shooting at them which is key.

Can they do that better than previous though? In terms of hiding behind walls they're great in that they're just tiny (height-wise) models... but is there more to it than I'm seeing? Would love a reason to pull out my 2nd ed Rippers and wreak havoc (by hiding).

Oh shiiiiit need to find some, only saw the FW tank ones from yesterday! Facebook? Faeit?
PS As much as I "understand" why GW does their "remove this unit from the codex" thing, I'm going to be super fucking pissed if they get rid of shrikes once and for all. Please please please GW, just give us an $8 upgrade sprue with wings on it and include it in the warrior box from now on. I'M BEGGING YOU

Yeah see? Also i understand the need to trim units that are never going to get support, and why its difficult to cut anything. I was hoping for a shrike kit (or biovore plastics) but it seems like the sc is it. I saw it on reddit but also faeit.

Does FW still sell the wing upgrades? They're ridiculously priced, but I thought as long as FW had the option, the model was safe. I'll be anti-stoked if shrikes bite it... Warriors are still "meh" except as a cheap synaptic babysitter (read: take a Malanthrope for the cost; aka taxes; aka Thanks Obama), but Shrikes are, IMHO, great. Do you really think they're at risk? Wouldn't they have been pulled from the Index if they were headed out?

Haha this is my whole issue with the way this is being done. You dont know what qualifies for the codex and what is being phased out. What if shrikes dont make it but those winged rippers do?!? Will hive tyrants lose access to deathspitters/devourers cause they dont come in the kit? I wouldnt worry about it though, as nothing has been stated by gw. Also, im hoping gsc will be in the nid dex.

Im pumped for the dex though. I wonder what the hive fleet traits will be.

Dude I cannot wait, new rules are always fun even if they're meh - and with hive fleet traits and stratagems its going to be a blast, we're going to have more flexibility than ever just by that very nature. And since everyone and their mom paints Nids in their own way, we have that upside - we can be whatever fleet we want to be man, no pigeon holing for us.
