I really knew how to abuse the fantasy rules and army builds and will make references to how I did it. And how. . .

didn't you always have both of those in your WoC lists?

Guys I'm really digging the difficulty of the new campaign system - the urgency to perform rituals and save enough coin to not only maintain armies but also intervene in enemy rituals creates a neat and stressful balancing act. Even playing on normal I'm finding myself on my heels a lot more than in the first one, it's a lot of fun.
Also dinosaurs.

I don't have any idea how many of my waking hours I spent on this game over the weekend, but it's fantastic. The only portion I don't like is that diplomacy is still annoying (for the 28th turn in a row, no dickhead, I'm not agreeing to a peace treaty) and the battles in the forest are hard to see where your people are.

Completely agree CJ - I started out as Kroq-Gar in Africa The Southlands, and the damn orcs in the pass just north of me ask me for a peace treaty Every. Single. Turn. They're no threat to me, and allying with them would piss off my other Lizardmen allies and High Elf allies, so I deny it every turn - but there should be an option for "always deny" or something like that.
And the forest battles are tough - I can hardly see my own units in the tall canopies, let alone enemy units - also I don't know if its a glitch, but for some reason most of my elven opponents always seem to make a bee line for my hidden troops even though they have the "hidden" symbol on their unit cards, so hiding in forests doesn't seem to be helping me in most battles lol or maybe its just that elves can see hidden units better?
Overall, I think I played close to 24 hours this weekend - basically anytime the baby was sleeping. Tons of fun, love the UI improvements they've made, and how they removed the need for "deploying" heroes - they just automatically buff/debuff provinces and armies now.
Still trying to get a handle on why the geomantic web matters, and if there is any downside to letting your opponents finish rituals - it seems like as long as you finish all 5 first you win, or at least can trigger the final battle win condition. Since I'm 1 ritual ahead of everyone else, I basically ignore them and have stopped spending money on intervention forces.

Finished Lizards and onto Skaven.
Really love the vortex rituals. They chase the game along. Interception essentially gave me a free high-powered army that my opponents had to chase all over the board. Easily worth the 10k.
The missions urging you to engage in civil war need to be ignored. In both Lizards and Skaven it is better to have to buffer (and ally) in the early game.
The web is a great boost for Lizards. It massively increases the commandments for completely held regions.
And loyalty in Skaven (along with really garbage and outnumbered troops) makes their campaign really, really hard.

I feel like the rituals are great for pushing you towards a goal with urgency, but then also force me to kind of castle up and defend against the raiders that spawn - so its like a weird 2 steps forward, 1 step back sort of feeling when I have to pull my armies back from their expansion crusades into Kemri and beyond. I'm on turn 145 and just finished ritual 3 - and just conquered Kemri and confederated with Tlaqua. I'm sure there's a better strategy that I'm not employing, and I know the overall map is much larger than the first one, but man - by turn 145 in TW:WH I was basically just running train through region after region with whatever faction I had started the campaign with, eliminating enemies and amassing so much wealth I was unstoppable. Not so in this one!

I love the loyalty function for dark elves, and that I have to keep an eye on my generals. Putting an upgraded assassin in the army keeps them a bit more loyal, which is fun. I also REALLY like the black ark function. Dark elf civil wars are great, and a really enjoyable way to upgrade my generals/armies. Anyone want to play either a cooperative or competitive campaign?

I've been playing as Malekith and I'm so far the only one to complete the 4th ritual, even though I've been behind most of the game. The loyalty mechanic bit me as my top general rebelled and I had to send Morathi to take her out. Sad times. But the game is great. I really like the ritual mechanic and I can only imagine how tough the 5th ritual will end up being. While it can be a little frustrating, I overall enjoy bringing my forces back to defend the cities. It adds an element of urgency to the series, which hasn't really been there before.
Also, it's weird, I have hardly fought any Dark Elves at all, I have almost complete confederated with them. I like that you can have multiple approaches like that.

Anyone want to play either a cooperative or competitive campaign? Yes. But it might be worth waiting a month for the world map.

I had two armies sail around the coasts picking up treasure and then defending rituals. They get the engineer and sea legs boosts pretty quick which makes things super easy. That way it left three or four other armies to crusade.
The ritual also makes trading and allies super easy. Pretty much everyone in my own race loves me so I can get them to give me big chunks of cash.

I tried invading Ulthuan this morning with two 20 stack armies and a few heroes. Took two cities then lost one, also lost the weaker army, a death hag, and my level 25 dreadlord on dragon who was my best combat lord, but destroyed Tyrion's army as well as two other elven armies and am building a new force of corsairs. I feel like this is entirely appropriate for the game's lore.
