This is being posted to the general public so some background information in the first paragraph! NDG closed and our 40k and fantasy gaming group had nowhere close to play. This form is being used to coordinate games and to try and find a new home. We are currently considering forming a club with monthly dues (like they do across the pond.) We want a location in Lakeview/Lincoln Park as that is where we all met/ a location that we know people can get to. We have nothing against the other game stores in Chicago we simply feel that none are a good match for us as a whole.
So we had a meeting today, and I would like to give a big shout out to Chris for hosing. Some things that were talked about:
In total as a ‘club’ our members have spent close to $850 on gaming supplies (terrain, boards, tables, etc.) What do we have? We have all the terrain that NDG had (I own it all muhahahaha,) we have a total of 26 gaming tiles (owned by Chris, Josh, and David,) and we have several folding tables for those tiles (thanks Chris!!)
At the moment I don’t think anyone who has personally spent money (like myself) is in need of being paid back by the community so we can put aide that issue for the moment.
What was discussed was where we wanted to play in the near and not so near future. Several people (Chris and David) have already hosted and are willing to host game nights again but we would love to get a few more people into the game night hosting rotation. If you’ve got space for 3-4 tables and don’t mind a full night of 40k or WFB post here so we can get so more games going!
Moving forward many of us, including myself, still see a huge advantage of having a gaming space. Be it in an existing store or in at a location that we rent as a club. We’ve talked several time about creating a more formal club and having monthly dues so
HERE IS THE IMPORTANT SURVEY!!!!

PLEASE FILL THIS OUT!!
There are two options before us, either we can find an existing store (no solid leads yet) or we can look for a place to rent in the club’s name. Understand that either way we will likely have to agree to at least a 6 month commitment if not a year commitment. This means that joining the club would have the same commitment. I understand that a yearlong commitment can is a lot but realistically we can’t do much without it. Some math is listed below for those wondering what the numbers would realistically mean.
As a club I would estimate our current membership at 20. Let’s say that we all agree to pitch in $45 a month. That’s 900 for ALL club expenses. So far I haven’t found a place that we can rent for less than 1000 but I am still looking (And I highly encourage you to do the same!) So what could we do with $900, simply stated we can offer a % of that to a business who would allow us to take over their space a few days a week for gaming. If we can grow our club membership to 30 or generate enough club revenue to hit the $1300 mark then we can realistically look into renting either a window-less commercial space or a studio/ 1 bedroom.
Please note: the dojo is running 40k on Thursday and Saturdays, if we had a club night it would not be on those nights. Some people like the dojo, some don’t, some think it’s made up, either way I don’t feel like it will be our new home. That, however, is no reason to directly compete with them. They don’t have space for 40k on other nights so let’s provide an alternative!
PLEASE DO THE SURVEY!!

Other reasons why the survey is important: When we approach a business and ask if we can use their space we need to know if we are offering #350 a month in income or $700. Businesses want hard numbers not general concepts. I want to keep this community alive; I hope you all do too.
Sorry for wall of text.
