Dex just shot you a message, where are you? I see all the magic draft people...and that's it.

Thanks for the game dex! Definitely needed to play less aggressively initially, or else way more aggressively to force your hand. Moving piecemeal into your gunline certainly wasn't helping me haha

When we ended it, it was actually tied - 2 Maelstroms + 1 secondary each, but he had already killed half of my jetbikes, all 3 ravagers, and 3 of 4 venoms by end of turn 2. I would have had to have gotten extremely above average rolls in turn 3 to gain back some momentum, and it didn't look likely, so we called it.
I probably would have killed one of his skyrays, and MAYBE finished off a riptide, but then his 6 broadsides, 2nd riptide, and 3 crisis suits that were still castled up would have deleted whatever had come within 30" to do said damage in the first place.
Overall I think it came down to deployment, it was vanguard, and since I can't really get a good flank deployment like DE want, I chose to deploy forward and push him into castling...which he did with gusto, and I just couldn't crack it. Should have either a) deployed back, and allowed him to deploy forward where I could use my speed to counter act his units better, or b) pushed as far forward as possible on turn 1 so that anything that didn't get shot down would have been in ideal threat range.
What I did instead was move 6-12" and fire with whatever I could, but it wasn't enough to do any real damage, and it left my vehicles pretty open to counter-attack, which against 18 skyray missiles, a heavy burst cannon, an ion cannon, and 6 missile sides was...less than intelligent.
Good game overall though, dex is at least fun to play with instead of some other tau players I know *cough Dan K is a dick cough*

Ugh, Tau is my nightmare. Remember when that 15 year old tabled me at Adepticon last year? Fuck that.

haha yes, kinda amazing. Dex doesn't pull any punches either - his list was farsight enclaves with a commander and 3 crisis suits, with 6 markerlights, 2 units of 1 crisis suit as troops, 2 units of outflanking kroot, a riptide, 3 skyrays, and then the formation that uses 6 broadsides and another riptide all with tank hunter.
Everything that could have skyfire and interceptor did, and everything has black-sun filters, so night fighting didn't help me.

God damn, fuck that book. Gross gross gross. Let me ask though, did Dex's parents pack up his army for him?

haha no they did not, which is a huge win for gamer-kind. And Jeff, look on the bright side. When the time comes to bring them and eldar into 7th edition (very likely within the next 6-12 months), the tears of Tau players everywhere will give us just like, the weirdest boners ever.
