I guess GW really wants the Reaper to be a legitimate piece of gear instead of overcosted garbage. Guess the only way to do that is, instead of making it AP2 (for a Prime), make everything else suck *harder*. Legit.
There have actually been quite a few swings with the nerfbat all around. Heldrakes (at least, the bale flamer variety) got a serious slam in the face, when you consider they relied on Vector Strike too. Puppies lost their own powers, and their fancy runic denial (it still helps, but they're not shutting down the board).
I didn't even notice the splinter thing, but it does literally nothing in the game (unless you start putting down AV7 buildings).
Anyone else notice that Dark Eldar Harlies kept the old Veil of Tears? Awkward, but hilarious that two identical units have *different powers*. Unless I missed in the Eldar FAQ that they changed it back or something. Not only can our Harlies grab a Raider more easily, but they get the "you just can't see me" version of Veil. Noice. Plus, you can always roll a single die for a WC1 power, get a 50/50 of casting, and no chance to perils (handy for low Ld psykers).
Also, my roommate's cat is throwing up ALL OVER THE RUG as we speak. So I'm gonna go beat the everliving shiz out of that animal.

Oof, also, Toxin Sacks on any Nid gribblies is pretty fuckin garbage. Not that it was super great in the first place. Oh well, at least we know it's useless now. I disagree - S6 tyrants will still reroll against nearly everything (just not other MCs) with their AP2 attacks, so that odd phase where you roll several 1's won't be a thing. Plus, with smash only being a single hit now, being able to reroll to wound with that single attack against things like Wraithknights and Riptides, not to mention greater demons, will be key - especially if you're rocking that bonesword that I love so much. Usefull? Kind of. Worth the 10 points? Meh, debatable.

Oh and actually, Poison got a nerf: your Strength has to be higher than the opposing Toughness for the re-roll. Ah damn, someone already beat me to embarrassing Nick on Faeit already. NICE POST NOOB. Fuckin amateur hour over here

You're lucky you have a codex at all. I'm not complaining just pointing out that things could always be worse. Really though, I don't think the codex actually needs any updates.

The DE codex that had been out since 3rd was a better army with more workable tactics than current edition and 7th-ed-FAQ'd Nids.
YUP I FEEL GREAT.
In fairness, I think that playing the Maelstrom Missions may actually benefit Nids, because you're scoring on random crap, rather than *having* to fight off things that you're super-inequipped to deal with. Plus, I really do like the idea of a back-and-forth, score-as-you-go game.
Shooty Flyers are largely just better, it just depends on if your opponent brings the things that you can't deal with. It's kind of like the old "Roll objectives, win... roll KP's, lose" conundrum.

So I was looking at things and from what I can tell apparently FMCs can now be hit with Blast Weapons and Flamer Templates as long as the firing models has Skyfire. The caveat under the Flyers entry in vehicles includes an extra line about how they specifically can't be hit with Blast or Flamer weapons that is absent under anything in FMCs, regardless of Swooping or Gliding. It's certainly weird and won't happen too often, but it does mean that our Harpies can shoot at other FMCs. Also, it looks like FMCs can Jink whether or not they're Gliding or Swooping, so that's a decent way to keep them not as vulnerable when gearing up for a charge.
I do wish more was changed here though.

Interesting. Although reading the book (or at least a picture of it) the bit about "changing flight modes" and charging does seem a bit... questionable.
