Nvm got too excited and didn't see it meant shooting only not attacking in the fight phase. Otherwise the relics seem pretty flavorful. I like the warlord trait for regaining command points totally bananas.

I like the warlord trait for regaining command points totally bananas. Most factions have a CP regen mechanic that falls into 1 of 2 buckets: 1. 5+ to get 1 CP back per opponent stratagem used - 33% chance of 1 CP per strat 2. 6+ to get 1 CP back per 1 CP spent on stratagems for you and your opponent - 16% per CP spent So if we assume a baseline of 14 CP on average to start the game per person (10 from 2 battalions, 1 from spearhead/outrider/vanguard whatever, 3 for battle forged), and an average CP spend of 1.5 per stratagem (most stratagems are 1 or 2, lets just assume they're used in roughly equal measure), that gives you an average of 9 stratagems used per person per game as a baseline. That means for bucket (1) above, you're getting an average of 3 CP back per game, and for bucket (2) you're getting 4 CP back per game. If both players have regen mechanics, you're actually getting off closer to 11-12 stratagems per game on average, but bucket (1) above still averages only 3 CP back per game while bucket (2) actually averages 5 CP back in that scenario. Harlequins are now in a 3rd bucket - they have the same 16% chance to roll the right number just like scenario 2 above, but not on every CP spent by both parties, only on the stratagems spent by your opponent - and you're limited by the amount of CP they choose to spend per stratagem: - If they spend all 14 CP on individual 1 CP stratagems, you'll get back 2 CP per game.
- If they spend all 14 CP on 2 CP stratagems, you'll average 1 regeneration event, and still only get back 2 CP per game
- But if they spend them all on 3 CP stratagems, you'll still average 1 regeneration, and actually get 3 CP back.
- Assuming the 1.5 CP average per stratagem rather than the opponent spending the same each and every time, that means 9 chances to regen CP, which means an average of 2 CP per game.
So the harlequin regen warlord trait is decidedly worse than either of the other 2 types of regen, with the 2nd bucket being the absolute best (and why dark eldar is best eldar, duh).

Just make sure that you only bring genestealers and lictors and your opponent has tons of accessible weak characters! For real though, I've been able to use that strategem once and I rolled a 1...

Joel good call I missed that, that does make it better basically doubles the CP to 4 on average putting it right in line with other versions. Pretty solid

Heh. My 1250 list basically just gained a Death Jester (and a Great Harlequin if I want to spend CP).

Notes about first run:
- Don't forget to charge with your Solitaire when it's 7" away from a Warboss & accompanying characters - Roll more than one successful psykic - Despite this, 6 Troupers mowing through double-digits worth of Orks is extremely gratifying - Also of note, watching those same Orks interrupt and mow down the Troupers in return is less gratifying
All in all a fun game, and definitely interesting to see how an elite-yet-fragile (ish) army plays against a mob mentality.
