Got a smaller game in, but ended up not having time to do a full 2k - was still a lot of fun! The 3d6 advance is really great... don't think I had a chance to use the re-charge bit (was vs Tau, so his suits were falling back anyway).
The Lictor surprised me... it wasn't super offensive (only 3 attacks kinda hurts there), but the -1 to hit really does a lot for it. It's enough to make me think through the whole venomthrope strategy a bit more.
I think the biggest buff of a Tyranid Prime on the Assault Deathspitters is letting them advance (for a probably 11" move) and still hit on 4's. Super mobile. Still need to play with Warriors more and figure out if they're going to be a staple with the new gear.

OK so you did end up using that strat. And tau will usually fall back for you. Hmm OK. Did you try Mr. Death leaper?

Def running the Kraken trait for now, yeah. It's been my fluff, and I think the Advance buff is really powerful (great for closing in offensively, and for objective-grabbing throughout the game).
Just used a base Lictor (it was only 500 pts)... Deathleaper would have a significant boost to combat prowess, and also an even more hilarious survivability boost through -2 to hit... if I had the points I'd def look at him for a list (need to double-check if he got moved to HQ in codex). With his buff vs characters he's way more likely to pull off the Feeder Tendrils strat as well, which is really nice.

Yeah you should look into him. I think he is worth it... Especially if you can run more than 1 of him (evil smile)

Although I love the nid dex, I'm pretty upset with the deathleaper nerf. He was our only character sniper in the index, and now we have nothing to counter that meta. He was just strong enough to barely take out weaker characters, so the ability wasnt op at all. What it did do was introduce a fun mind-game strategy. When I named an ethereal, or priest, or cryptek, etc, My opponents really had to focus on keeping those characters bubblewrapped at the expense of mobility. It was especially fun against melee buffers like the priests, because his squad would abandon him when charging, leaving him vulnerable to the leaper. Meh, i just thought it was a pretty unique rule considering that lictors arent all that great...

From what I've seen, non-unique is a specific design choice for Nids... they're simply more specialized versions of other genotypes that have gained notoriety.
As for DL vs Lictor... I think the new deployment rules are less hassle... originally you could just block the DL from coming in at all (insta-kill) by keeping the character in a transport, or wrapped, or whatever. The ideal would have been to remove the maximum distance, allowing you to still place the Leaper wherever (and give it the re-roll charge). Or just give us one thing that can pop up right beside stuff. Or something. Anyway.
I think the biggest buff is the -2 to hit. This is both shooting and assault, and -1 on its own can do really great things for you. Tau shoot you on 6's, and basically can't hit you in combat. Think about that.
Twice the wounds is great (I think it's 3 vs 6?), and if you're actually after a character now, those 4 attacks do a lot more work for you. Re-rolls everywhere mean you're pretty likely to score all 4 wounds vs a T4-5 target. Depending on said target, that's potentially 8 wounds.
Short version, I'd definitely try him out if I had the points - but with my current strategy I don't think the DeathLeaper is at the top of the priority chain.
