So as much as I love Orks, for the sake of variety I would like to start investing in a second army. In that same vein, I would like something that can play a bit more defensively, and something with the ability to shoot with some measure of actual accuracy. I also do not want another horde army, so if you suggest Guard I will find you, and I will kill you.
I have basically narrowed it down to three choices. I won't make a final decision until all three codex's have dropped, and I am open to other suggestions, excepting the aforementioned Guard.
Chaos
-Pros-
-Large variety of models that look cool
-I really, really love to kitbash
-Full toolbox allowing for a ton of tactical flexibility and a ton of viable ways to play
-Ability (I think) to convert 30k models
-I keep buying them for some reason, so I already have some
-Cons-
-Large variety of models that I would inevitably end up buying
-I really, really love to kitbash....but it makes my hobby progress slow as hell
-Some of the older models (Tactical Marines) are definitely showing their age
-Almost as hard to paint as Orks (but with fewer models)
Tau
-Pros-
-Giant Robots
-Unique Playstlye
-Giant Robots
-Shooty as all hell
-Very cool and modern model line primarily in the form of giant robots
-Comparatively easy to paint
-Cons-
-No kitbashing opportunities
-I literally have no idea how they work and marker lights terrify me
-almost no CC whatsoever
-I once played the game "Fire Warrior" and it scarred me for life.
Necrons
-Pros-
-I already own a lot of them
-They.....may suck less later?
-They are both shooty and defensive in style
-Comparatively easy to paint
-Cons-
-No kitbashing
-I would have to assemble more ghost arks...
-Sooooooooooo boring to play
-The Deceiver model and the nightmares he causes
-One of the less effective forces at the moment
-I do not love the models from an aesthetic point of view
-Their range is short for a shooty army.
So that is where I am on this....thoughts/suggestions?
