Dude, I think I'm going to have to pick one of those Mortarion models up as well to add to the collection. I've already got Daemon Magnus, and just started painting both him and his 30k counter part - I may have to end up getting all 4 daemon primarchs for my shelf.

4? Sir, I dare say you have forgotten Perturabo and Lorgar. (I SOOOOOOOO want a daemon Perturabo for my Iron Warriors, I already have the 30k version)

Well, you know, the main 4 - Magnus, Angron, Fulgrim, Mortarion - the 4 main god aligned ones. I doubt they'll do a lorgar or perturabo, but shit that would be amazing!

I’ve turned back to this project, and with that in mind, here is what I am tentatively going to describe as a finished base for mortarion. I say tentatively because I’m not 100% certain I like the nurglings, I think they might be a bit too purple.

It looks like you and I are using somewhat similar color schemes.
What are you using to base coat the Marines?

Marines are base coated white. I'm trying to paint them in heresy era colors, green with off white.

Ditto, although my accent colors are a bit more muted than yours. Are you also doing your vehicles with the same base?

I’m not super sure about basing yet, that is still something I’m thinking about for everything else. Morty is such a beast to work through the details of. Armor is to my satisfaction, the cloak and chain mail likewise. I’m pretty happy about the face, I may to some minimal touches here and there, but there’s so much left, and I still haven’t even touched the wings, but here he is as a wip.

What kind of wash are you using on your plague marines? Mine keep coming out a bit too yellow

Liberal amounts of agrax. Basecoat of white, two layers of agrax, one in the recesses and then another across the whole model. Then using I want to say screaming skull to drybrush. I can't remember if it was screaming skull or ushabti bone, but one is more yellow than the other and I didn't like how it turned out. Whichever is less yellow is what I use.
