Coming to a DOJO Tournament near you - corsair reinforcements! 2 Hornets with pulse lasers - pew pew! 3 Felarch bikers with power lances, Baron biker (small cape) with void sabre, Prince biker (large cape) with void sabre. Jetbikes that do combat! #mediocre!

The rest of the army is 5 man squads of T3 4+ saves with no transports, so I needed some fire power...also theirs a warp hunter and a lynx at 1850...glass cannons amirite

How do you feel about corsair combat bikes? Do you run a shimmershield on one of the characters, bait with shadowfields.. ?
Gotta love a unit of spear-bikes... just so cool.

I use the shimmershield on the baron for a unit-wide 5++, and the shadowfield on my prince warlord. I thought about giving the baron and prince both shadowfields, and giving them both wild psyker on divination to try to get one of them on rerolling saves, and then use that model to tank...but its an additional 65 points for a 33% chance at what is only a semi-reliable gimmick.
But I like the combat bikes overall - the void sabres and lances (plus their additional close combat weapons stock), plus rage, plus rampage on the prince, means I'm getting 6+d3 S5 AP3 rending attacks from my prince and 17 S4 AP3 attacks (5 with rending from the baron) on the rest of the squad. Not going to be able to take on full squads of 2+ saves, since I'm looking at 1-2 rends on average per combat round, but power armor or less? MULCH BABY
And the corsairs are just super mobile. Jetbikes that can move 6+D6" *after* shooting, and still charge - and in fact *have* to charge if within 8" of a unit, even if they didn't shoot at it, are crazy easy to get into proper position vs your target unit. Also the Felarchs have scatter lasers.

I think it's highly worth it to give both the Prince and Baron Shadowfields and then play the Look-Out Sir game to get a poor man's re-rollable 2++.
It's a unit that hits pretty hard on the charge (I assume you're giving them power lances) but I would definitely try to get Hit & Run in there somehow to be an actual threat (I'm not sure if this is possible). If they get stuck in and everyone goes back down to S3 AP4, you may be stuck for the rest of the game.
They really goofed with the Aethermancy Powers, because two or three of them are powers that move the unit through the Warp - such as 2D6" or into reserves or whatever - but they specifically made it not work on units locked in combat. It should have been the Corsairs ghetto, risky Hit and Run but it isn't.
But it looks awesome and with their mobility, hopefully you can position them to only charge units you know they can easily wipe on the charge. You have to be a good player though so

Yeah I'm not sure how to get them hit and run but that would be best, you're absolutely right. I might have to find a way to do that somehow...allied eldar with a bike autarch? Can't he take kit that gives his unit hit and run?

Can't he take kit that gives his unit hit and run? Phoenix Lord Baharoth, Shadowseer, and Death Jester are the only way to get Hit & Run on an IC in an Eldar list that I'm aware of.

What is the wording on how a Shadowfield stops working? Does it go away after a failed save or an unsaved wound? I'm only asking because of how it interacts with perils inflicting wounds on a dude with a Shadowfield (might be something to think about, especially with Sisters of Silence chucking around psych-out grenades).

The shadow field stops working at the end of the phase in which you roll a 1 - so it still works for all subsequent wounds in the shooting phase/combat phase, but ends at the end of the phase.

Don't worry - I'm going outside the box, and I'm probably going to repaint all my dark eldar in this scheme too so when I play Ynarri everything is cohesive. Russ Grey basecoat, washed with Naggaroth Night in the recesses, highlighted with fenrisian grey, and with Fire Dragon Bright masking (stripes/sigils etc). Grey/Blue and Orange - like a movie!
