February Fluffhammer Tourney - FAQ Thread & Fluff Score

Hello my friends,
I'm really excited for the February Tourney at the Dojo and I hope you guys are as well. It will be our biggest yet with 12 people / 6 tables, and there is a possibility for 14 people / 7 tables as well (if you know 1 more guy, send him my way as I have the 13th waiting). I am quite determined to not let any quality slip away as it grows and I really hope Russell doesn't think it sucks. With that in mind, there are a few things I'd like to clarify (below). It would also be helpful to post any general questions you may have here so that everyone can see the answer.
1) The new Codex Specific FAQ's that dropped today will be used - that said it will mostly be on you to know your armies rules or changes. I don't think there are any problematic rulings for our format, but I'm aware some armies have some significant clarifications that might alter some previous builds, so please read up.
2) Please arrive at 10:30AM so we can roll for traits and powers together and promptly start gaming at 11AM. Games will be capped at 2 hours / 5 turns, whichever comes first. There will be 15 - 20 minute breaks between games. You will play 3 games. Your Warlord will be from your CAD and so can re-roll his trait as normal. Your Troops in the CAD will also still be ObSec (exception for our format being non-scoring troops such as bikes)
3) I won't know if they are 4x4 or 4x6 boards until the night before while I'm actually setting up and seeing what we have to work with. You will just have to bare in mind the possibility of both when you build your lists.
4) I will be printing out each of the missions/rules for everybody, but you will be responsible for bringing copies of your army list this time (one for each opponent and one for me). We'll be keeping the missions relatively simple but there will be variations in each.
5) Regarding the Paint Score: You do not need to have a painted army to play - you could very well play with all gray plastic and be just fine. However, we will still be keeping the 1 extra VP per game for having a fully painted army because it has been a fair fun reward so far. Also, general WYSIWIG needs to be followed for the enjoyment of everyone - small exceptions to it can be made but please do not abuse it. As a rule of thumb, try not to exceed two models that aren't WYSIWIG
6) Related, the extra VP's for certain codices have been dropped, as I've witnessed an Ork Warboss Star chew through a tournament and a half just as I've witnessed Riptides crumble to the bottom. You should play with whatever codex / codices you'll have the most fun with
7) Every 3 wounds / hull points from a GC / SH / LoW will be 1 VP as a standard in every mission, along with the previously mentioned penalties to game turn.
7) The best and most unique new addition - this tournament will have a FLUFF SCORE that will be directly added into your overall points for the day. I will be adding to your score an amount of victory points from an ordinal scale I've borrowed (You'll be given 1VP to 5VPs) based on the theme, composition and background of the list you bring.
How this manifests: When we set up the armies for pictures, you have the optional opportunity to explain your army to me (or you can submit a paragraph so it's in writing if that is more appealing to you). Like the paint score, this is ultimately OPTIONAL and you won't be penalized if you don't decide to give an explanation; I will just look at your army and give it a score based on what I see and infer. An army could indeed still score a 4 or 5 without an explanation from you, just as an army could still score a 1 or 2 with a novel written about it.
I'm aware this is subjective (controversial, even?), but I don't believe it's game breaking - these are very high scoring events, normally averaging 20 VPs per game - so 1-5 points on the day isn't going to save you or kill you. But, it's a good reward for a very important part of the game that I believe we all value. Combine it with the paint score, and all of a sudden you could have 8 extra VP's at the end and that could certainly start to push your fate a bit. This is not the ITC or Metahammer. This is Fluffhammer. Examples of a high fluff score would be as simple as staying true to your faction, having allies that make sense, having a story behind an alliance, using units that your specific chapter/equivalent would use, naming some characters, having a story about a character, not spamming unique units. I will try to list two examples of fluff scores and armies below.
I expect that you guys will have some questions about this and that everyone may not be thrilled about it. I would encourage you to not worry too much about it or let it psyche you out of your original plans. I will be as fair and consistent as I possibly can be and I've taken this as part of my role as organizer to do a good job and make this enriching for the experience. This is meant to reward players who honor the fluff. It is not meant to punish players who don't. I will try to put some examples below
